Wineries & Vineyards

Pugliese Vineyards, a family-owned winery located on the scenic North Fork of Long Island, is known for its wide variety of fine wine grapes such as Riesling, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The vineyard offers a unique experience with their small tasting room that does not follow traditional guided tastings but instead offers a tasting flight of four wines paired perfectly with food items from an extensive menu including crackers, cheese spreads and chips.

Incredible location to enjoy very delicious wine with my friends. We spent nearly all day here. The staff is wonderful - very kind and really efficient and getting our orders in and food/wine back to us. They have so many options all at affordable prices. Being completely outdoor with COVID also is a huge plus, and the property has both shaded and non shaded areas with beautiful vines and decor. It was packed as well but the service was still solid! I am definitely coming back here soon to try Rose and Cabernet Sauvignon again - so delicious (also love the custom paintings done, may buy another as a gift for my mom!).

Very nice wines, beautiful setting under the grape arbor. Loved the fig crackers with cheese

Lou M — Google review

Stay clear of this place. Very rude. I came in and purchased something and they had to the nerve to come outside and asked us to leave if we didn't buy wine. She even spoke to my limo driver and said the same thing. This is not a park to hangout and enjoy our area. She said "This is only available to people who spend money on wine!" Place was a ghost town. Go visit Osprey's Dominion, much nicer and welcoming place. Pugliese Vineyards should be closed down just for the way they treat people.

Joe S — Google review

Good atmosphere, wines are ok as well. The wines lack complexity and have rough edges on the palate. The atmosphere is great especially by the pond. Very nice and peaceful to spend time together with family.

Lovy K — Google review

This place is so nice. The wine is great. The Brazilian decorations and Brazilian music are so kind. Definitely a place that I want to go back.

Very easy down to earth set up.Wide variety of wines.Attentive and informative staff (Ralph was great, thank you!)Good prices (6 bottles for 75$)You get to choose your own selection for the flight. (4 for 20$)This vineyard was the highlight of our trip to the Long Island wine country. We’ll definitely come back.

H K — Google review

This was such a great experience. The atmosphere was so pretty and lovely. I was there when they had live music. I really appreciated that you could choose the wines in your flight. The red pepper hummus was also the best hummus I have ever had. I am so excited to go back!

My favorite winery out East, I had had my couples wedding shower 2018, owners was very accommodating. Everyone had a blast. This is a go to every time I am out East!

Carol R — Google review

When visiting Pugliese vineyard, I was immediately struck by the serene beauty of its surroundings. The vineyard is nestled in a picturesque location, the atmosphere created the perfect setting for a relaxing day out. On top of the great wine, the staff at the vineyard was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend!

Amazing wine! The Bella Maria Blush Table Wine was super delicious. Cannot wait to visit the winery and do a full wine tasting in the summer! Thank you Pugliese Vineyards!!!!

Love this winery! They have a great selection, very reasonable pricing and a wonderful outdoor sitting area. There is a nice pond with turtles and fish and tons of tables. Friendly and helpful staff, very good. Highly recommend and will definitely return.

J P — Google review

Had a groupon and what a bargain! I went with the sparkling 4 for my tour. Great choice! There are lots of great options and a great cheese plate. The vineyard has a pond and usually has live music. Its very crowded in the summer but there are plenty of glasses to go around.

Hill-Stead Museum

Art museum

Museums

Hiking area

A wide-ranging collection of paintings, prints & decorative arts in a 1901 Colonial Revival mansion.

History, gardens, walking trails, music... always an enjoyable and beautiful day here! Highly recommend.

Tracy P — Google review

The Hill-Stead Museum is a nice small town museum that offers a lot. The museum was the creation of Theodate Pope Riddle, one of America’s first female architects. On top of being a pioneer in the field of architecture, she also survived the sinking of the Lusitania. The house itself is a Colonial Revival style mansion. It has 19 rooms, gardens, and covers 33,000 square feet. What sets this house apart from others, is the great works of art that are displayed. The works of Impressionist artists such Claude Monet, Mary Cassatt, and Edouard Manet can be found inside.A house tour takes about an hour here. Tickets are first come first serve at the museum. There is no photography allowed inside the house. When they are open you can walk the grounds of the museum for free. There are nice nature trails that go around the grounds and you can also see the gardens on the estate. This is a great little museum, however they should have advanced ticketing and allow photography in the house. Still, the tours are very good and this is a unique museum that is worth seeing.

Ryan M — Google review

I visited the museum because my niece had her wedding there. Both her ceremony as well as the reception were held there. She had easily over 150 guests. The entire affair was phenomenal! Grounds are beautifully maintained and bathroom facilities are available close by for the guests. Highly recommend this place for a museum visit and/or for large event.

Lillian L — Google review

Beautiful grounds around the house, however secondary growth woods on most of the property are underwhelming. Trails are clear to follow. Beautiful garden. Unfortunately, missed actual house tour.

Mike Z — Google review

Our guide, Ellen, was outstanding. We enjoyed a very interesting hour long tour. Tours start every hour. You will see a beautiful historic home and incredible art from Monet, Degas, Hokusai, and more. More should take the time to stop and explore this place.

Paul C — Google review

Very beautiful place to go visit in the spring/summer months. Take a nice walk, bring a blanket & have a picnic.

Yachai R — Google review

Beautiful space for any event. Just the right amount of rustic while also having enough modern to allow for a fun wedding for everyone to enjoy with ease! Great separate ceremony space as well! AllStar Weddings highly recommends to any client looking for the unique vibe setting.

AllStar W — Google review

Our expectations were far exceeded at Hillstead House! We had an amazing tour with Sharon as our guide who had an incredible wealth of knowledge and a visible genuine passion for the museum. Every room was filled with priceless treasures including several Monet and Degas paintings among other unique works of art mixed in among China dating back to 600BC! The rooms were lush with a quiet dignity despite their rich artifacts and the museum has done a wonderful job with it's upkeep. Would highly recommend!!

Melissa S — Google review

For such a small museum that not many people talk about, it has a lot to showcase. Monet's, Degats, Hokusai's, and everything original from the sheets to the entire library collection of books, I'm surprised there aren't more people coming to it. It's truly an interesting little place that I would highly recommend checking out. Also, the curators do a fantastic job here. They like to change the houses layout based off of who owned it at the time. Some paintings will be in different locations based off of who was the home owner.

Meoppies — Google review

Loved the house tour. Our docents were outstanding! The May Market was sure to have something for everyone. We came away with Tuscan dipping sauce, Fig Vinegar, a Lilac Freesia candle, two headbands covered in fabric, scones and shortbread squares. Found an amazing photographer whose work I loved. Photo on aluminum method just gorgeous. We will be back to hike the grounds in the future and attend other events.

Kathy H — Google review

Amazing house, with exquisite furnishings. The art collection is world class. Guide was well-informed, answered many questions. We went on first tour of the day; the house was quiet. One in our party needed a wheelchair, which H-S gladly furnished. Great gift shop.

Douglas H — Google review

This place is beautiful and very historical and the tour guide was very nice BUT it was more of an artwork tour than one that focuses on the home and owner. And you cannot take photos inside home. I was able to take photos at the Getty Museum which has priceless artwork! There are Monet’s, Degas and many more artist paintings but if I wanted to here about artist I would have gone to art museum. The home has so many antiques and so much history and in my opinion that should be the focus. I became very bored and left early (1 hour tour). The grounds are simply beautiful and they still have 150 of the 300 acres. There is a contemporary art gallery and gift shop. The young lady in gift shop was very polite and friendly. No gifts with museum name that I could see.If you want to see the paintings and here back stories then this is the place to visit. There are tour times so be sure to check on website so that you won’t have to wait.

Dr. R — Google review

We walked a bit in the lovely, sunken garden while waiting for the 2:00 tour of the museum/house. Miguel then escorted us to the entrance of the house where Peter, the docent, gave a fact-filled guided tour. Well-done by all involved!

Susan T — Google review

I've photographed weddings here several times and it's a stunner! The grounds are incredible all year round but especially in the fall. The foliage is amazing, the sunken garden it such a unique spot and the lighting always seems to be perfect here. Definitely a top 5 venue of mine.

Tony P — Google review

You’re not allowed to take pictures inside the house, but Monet’s haystacks are scattered around outside that you can photograph! The entire place is beautifully landscaped and photo ops abound. But, take a tour to see the spaces Theodate Pope Riddle designed and the collection of impressionist paintings inside.

Gail A — Google review

8.11.23 Today, we just explored the beautiful grounds. Ample, free parking, hiking trails, walking paths, beautiful flowers. We had a picnic and enjoyed the perfectly manicured area.

Margaret H — Google review

I first came here in elementary school for a field trip. It was my first exposure to great art and it's in such a beautiful setting. I loved it then and I loved it more upon returning recently. The grounds are picturesque and peaceful. Perfect for a relaxing walk.Entering the house for the tour is a magical experience. You are stepping back in time and the very knowledgeable guides are there to bring it to life for you.

Room Escape Games

The escape room center, Complexity: A Puzzling Adventure, offers a challenging and well-crafted experience for families and groups. "The Mall" room presents inventive and enjoyable puzzles that can be quite tricky, even with a group of six people. If players find themselves stuck, there are clues available to help them progress. The staff ensures a smooth experience and facilitates a nice discussion after the game. Additionally, they provide the option to take a group photo as a memento of the occasion.

7D2105Didn’t get the game masters name but they were great! They had a distinct sense of humor and made it fun! My husband, brother in law and I did the lost souls pirate room and had a great time working together to solve the mystery and escape! My 3rd escape room, my husband’s 2nd and my brother in law’s 1st!

Hlm143 — Google review

Our crew completed Hunt for the Dead Sea Souls. Interesting room. Some of the puzzles were a bit time consuming but there were some we hadn't seen before. Like any other escape room, I''d recommend good communication.

Whitney S — Google review

We had a great time with The Mall game, which had puzzles challenging enough for our group of 6 to enjoy. Our game master, Kayla, was amazing! She was super helpful and, along with the rest of the team at Complexity, helped me pull off my pregnancy announcement to my brother and SIL so that it went exactly as I pictured. Kayla’s dedication to making our moment and our game memorable was outstanding! I definitely recommend this escape room

It was well-crafted and the puzzles were all inventive and fun. There are clues you can choose to receive if you get stuck, which was helpful. The staff made the experience smooth and there was a nice discussion afterwards, plus she took a group photo and sent it to us. Highly recommend this experience.

Our group of 6 had a wonderful time doing the Mall escape room today (C75605). The introduction and the setup was clear and got us off to a great start. We had a lot of early wins that was motivating and the escape room had some unique elements that were fun to puzzle over. There were a couple items with some minor technical issues but the escape room person was attentive and helpful, which avoided us losing much time. We are looking forward to some new escape room options at this location!

Went here for a resident wellness event with my fellow co-residents. We did 2 escape rooms and both were great. Staff was really nice, amiable, and accommodating. We were seasoned puzzlers and still enjoyed both rooms. Would recommend to anyone regardless of experience!

We had SOOO much fun escaping from the Blizzard room! We laughed so hard at times we had tears pouring out of our eyes. We had six people ranging in age from 15-73. It’s always so hard to find activities that are fun for multiple generations, but this was a grand slam! Our hostess Kayla was amazing, we definitely plan on going back again! 35FBE6

We played "The Blizzard" on Sept 8th and we're helped by Brittney (A50276). We had a great time are very excited to go back and try their other rooms! We have also done a few rooms at their Rocky Hill location which we're also a ton of fun!

Daniel M — Google review

2B802EWe did the Blizzard room. As escape room enthusiasts we were pleasantly surprised to see puzzles that we have not seen before. Brittney explained it was their oldest room but it has held up very well! You can tell the time and dedication they put into keeping the theme throughout the room. We will definitely be back.

Kaitlyn W — Google review

Brittney made a great experience for us from the start and throughout the game (even when we almost lost power!) the thunderstorm outside made the pirates room even spookier and more realistic. We tried an escape room last weekend and it was not as enjoyable as this place, that is for sure. There was enough puzzles and the amount of difficulty was perfect for our team of five, ages ranging from 11 to 34. It was super fun and we will definitely come back for the Mall and blizzard rooms!!!!Confirmation #632C30

We had such a fabulous time and were treated like gold!! Three generations of 11 players and everyone enjoyed themselves! That was all thanks to Liz, our game master! She was awesome! The rooms were incredibly interesting and the mall was my favorite while my son loved the Pirate ghost room! Our confirmation code was 65CDB0.

Kelly F — Google review

Confirmation code: 5B86E1I took my family to this escape room super last minute and they were so accommodating. We came as a family of 4, 2 teenagers and this was great on building teamwork and learning to communicate with each other. Brittney was our game master, she was probably laughing the entire time watching us, cheering us on and letting us know teamwork makes the dream work. She was great, and helped with dropping hints. They are unlimited but we all have to agree. The different combinations of locks is amazing and challenging itself, who knew there were that many. The escape room we had was a moderate challenge, The Hunt for the Dead Sea Souls and finished just in time with 28 seconds left. We can’t wait to come back and hopefully we are lucky to have Brittney as our game master!

Veronica R — Google review

Brit might be the most fabulous gamemaster that ever existed. She made our experience as first time participants truly wonderful. The pirate room was challenging and we are a bit dim but Brit was there to be our shining light and take us to finish line. I am confident that we would still be trapped, looking for lost souls if it weren't for her wisdom and guidance. Thanks again Brit! (6EBCA3)

Our “Mall” experience (2DB5CO) was such great fun. Eight of us ages 12 to 69 managed to complete our escape with 6 minutes to spare. Britney was our hostess and provided a few subtle hints when we couldn’t quite get it. A first time for most of us and looking forward to more puzzling adventures.

Quaint, 17th-century structure offering 3 floors filled with historic furnishings & artifacts.

I was looking to fill some time with my kid on a Friday in the summer so we checked out the museum. The staff were kind and helpful. We spent most of our time digging for treasures and learning about the SCSU's ongoing excavation on the property. There is plenty of parking and washrooms on site.

L D — Google review

I've been to this museum twice, roughly ten years apart. Both times it was awesome. The building is amazing, looking very medieval with its huge stone walls. It is very old, for this country, built 1639/40 a time when the New England colonies were still using pikes, matchlock muskets, armor and still believed in witchcraft. You get to explore the large house on a self guided tour, looking at various artifacts. The colonial clock and Wheelock musket in the Garret were some of my favorite pieces. I also really liked the write up about the house as you come in.The staff is very friendly (both visits) and informative about the area. I will definitely return one day.The place is also gorgeous with a large green around it.

The staff very kindly opened up the house for me in Winter as i had come from England to write a book, In the Name of the Crown. They could not have been more accommodating and friendly. A great part of early United States History.

Chris S — Google review

I wanted to mention that this historic building can be challenging for visitors with vision loss or mobility issues. There are 3 levels in the main house and the staircases connecting each floor are very narrow and dimly lit. While the staff was very welcoming, even giving a short introduction to the home prior to the self-guided tour, I wish I had been alerted to the challenging staircases and dim lighting. It is a beautifuland well-tended collection, but may be challenging for some visitors.

Michelle B — Google review

The oldest stone house in New England. Beautiful grounds, lovely trees and trails to hike. There is a museum and gift shop. Close to the ocean and the Guilford Green

Kyle H — Google review

A house in 1600s style with many local artifacts from the 1600, 1700 and 1800s. You get an idea of early colonial life in the 1600s. Don't miss visitors center next door, which gives some history on colonial and Victorian buildings on the nearby green.

Ellen C — Google review

The architecture is great, and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. The admission is a bit steep, but it goes to good use. There's not a whole lot to see, but it's worth a visit if you're interested in Colonial era history or the history of early European settlements in New England.

Hubbard Park

Park

Nature & Parks

1,800-acre park featuring a scenic lake, event bandshell, skating rink, tennis court & playground.

Visited the park in a nice autumn day. There are a lot of ducks and geese (I think they love this place). Moving north and at the end of the lake, there is parking lot near the woods, and there starts the trail to Castle Craig. There is a map at the start but no map along the trails, so it is good to take a photo here before climbing. It takes about 1h to climb to the top.

Bao W — Google review

Beautiful day. Fed the birds popcorn. Nice walk around. Excellent pics. Disappointed we couldn't drive up to the castle 😒 but still had a lovely time. 😎😃

Do u like - “A host, of Golden daffodils “? Then definitely it is the place when summer starts. Do u like enjoying Christmas lights? Do u like fishing , hiking, watching birds , even swimming or playing tennis ? This park is literally having all for all age groups and for all season… Its having a gazebo too with a vast green ground and a little falls. Its a huge area to keep u busy for hours. we are lucky to experience daffodils , “beside the lake , beneath the trees”. I would love to come here again during fall and Christmas season too..

Subhajit D — Google review

This park is great! It’s kept nice and clean, and it also has some great hikes! During the Christmas season, the light show is fun to see!

Chad ? — Google review

Great place to hike or relax with the family. Plenty of things to do here all year long. From the daffodil festival in the Spring to the Christmas lights in the Winter. There's tennis courts, swimming plenty of picnic areas lots of parking. Easy to get to right off of 691 in Meriden. This park never disappoints. The trails are well kept and easy to walk and the view from the top at the castle is excellent.

Geoffrey H — Google review

Beautiful scenic Park…. If you travel to the castle, you can either hike up from the bottom or drive up…. And a nice clear Day you can see Hartford from Meriden…. So awesome views …

Mark L — Google review

A nice place to see Daffodils. A quiet, serene place. Park surrounding a lake. Vast area. You can spend some hours. Good for walking or spending time ... A big parking area is also available. Playground for kids was also available and a tennis court was also there.

Rani — Google review

Gorgeous park! Big beautiful pond in the center, children's play area, hiking trails, swimming and just relaxing near the sculptures. Oh and did I mention there's a castle with a beautiful view!

Brie S — Google review

My kids & I love Hubbard park. We love feeding the geese & ducks, then spending time in the park, hoping the ice cream man comes! I've walked up to the castle, when I was younger, with the kids, I always drive up, trust me, its a long way up & even longer if you have to walk back down! But they views are breathtaking, definitely worth it.

Staci D — Google review

Great place to sit and relax. Road to castle craig is still closed but it was still fun. I love the water and the scenery. Not the same amount to daffodils kinda dwindled down but that's still ok. The parade and festival is this weekend and know it will bring many more people to look around and see the beautiful park. No trash around on the ground which is nice and the people there aren't noisy everyone keeps to themselves mostly. A great place for pictures and to meet nice people. I did see people fishing and a huge tag sale too. In winter they allow people to come see lights and summer is a great time for wedding venues.

Jamie C — Google review

Hubbard Park is a great place any time of year. But from Thanksgiving to the New Year it's lit up for the Christmas and other holidays. There is also a Christmas themed display in the old skate house (I have heard some refer to it as the Doll House). Very nice to drive through and enjoy the lights. Great for picnics and outside gatherings at other times of the year, too.

John J — Google review

Nice little park with a small lake. The real good part is that you have walking and hiking trails that start off from there where you go under the highway and to the mountain on the other side. You can wander/hike up to the castle and a halfway location for scenery. The trails are well enough marked and not difficult, just don't wear really light shoes or flipflops - you'll turn an ankle on the stones.

Victor T — Google review

This park is beautiful. It has everything for everybody. From hiking to fishing, to watching birds, there a pool for swimming, a tower on the top. This Christmas season they have a light show on. It free. You can ride or walk it . There all kinds of lights there in the water in the trees. Most beautiful park for the season. Thank you for putting this on

Ray R — Google review

Beautiful park. Nice design. All types of birds and ducks to feed. Don't feed them bread. 🙂 Been coming to this park for over 20 years.

Melissa J — Google review

the area is big, so taking a stroll walking the dogs it's great. in the spring, beautiful area for pictures and a gazebo for a wedding photo. Picnic areas but no tables, and you can't have open flames, but bring your blanket in the summer and relax

Dominique O — Google review

It was such a nice Christmacy experience. We brought our son to this park because it is known for their christmas decorations, and I think is worth checking it out during the Christmas season. There is a lake in between the park, so the Christmas decorations are reflected in the lake and look so pretty.

My fiancé and I went to Hubbard park for the first time for Meriden’s Fourth of July fireworks on 7/3/2024. While we arrived to the park later in the evening (around 9 pm), we could tell the town put a good deal of effort coordinating live music and food trucks for pre-fireworks activities. The grounds were attractive and clean. I appreciated the public restrooms. I would definitely like to go back and walk around more. A hidden gem I didn’t realize was so close to Cheshire.

Hubbard Park was so fun apart from the great play scape, grilling area and the pool it’s a fun family place. I specially took the drive all the way up to one of its attractions the CASTLE look over of the surrounding areas! Many great hikes for all level of expertise and just a nice shaded walk or drive! The high CASTLE look over is the highest point from Maine to Florida! I did not know that until I read the head stone of the name and story of the Castle. Will recommend to any family or hikers I know

Theme park

Water & Amusem*nt Parks

Family-friendly theme park featuring roller coasters & other rides, plus a water park.

Super clean amusem*nt park with tons to do for both little, big and adult kids. Clearly marked height and aggressiveness descriptions so we knew what to expect for our family and their personal ride aversions. Sprawling water park with tons of cabanas, picnic seating and fun activities for everyone. Very few lines when we went on a Saturday in late August. Great times. We'll be back!

Chad F — Google review

Very fun park, and a nice change from visiting a Six Flags. The food selection is decent, but the lines can be long. Ride lines don’t get too bad. Riding Boulder Dash is an absolute must do, that coaster makes the park. The park has a nice family atmosphere, and the water park is good.

Saabgt3 — Google review

Overall great day. We got to the park just before opening and there were no lines. Park was well kept and clean. As the day went on , it got a bit busier and the bathrooms a little less clean. Lines for the rides were pretty quick. We came with teenagers and they had a good time.Nice section of rides for smaller kids. Park food was definitely pricey and quality wasn't the best, but I expect that from most amusem*nt parks. I do wish they did not charge for parking. Overall great experience.

Sarah B — Google review

Some of the rides were not working when I came to Lake Compounce and I was very disappointed the Boulder dash the sawmill I believe it is called the tornado , the wild cat All closed. A lot of people cut me and my children in line because they had 1 of their family members holding up a spot for them there was no staff to reassure that no one was cutting the line which is one of the main reasons there is a lot of wait time in the water park area I was very dissatisfied about that . My last trip to Lake Compounce was last Saturday and I only had a chance to ride the lazy river and get in one of the pool for 10 minutes. My children wanted to get on the waterslide that is for small children it has three slides that go down into a small pool area to employees held the line up for over 15 minutes and then decided to close the ride down 15 minutes early I took photos of this instance because I felt like that was wrong they knew they were closing the attraction early yet they still made the children wait in line for 15 to 20 minutes and then turn them around when they could have got on some thing else I’ve also took photos of this incident I have been a resident of Connecticut my entire life I come to Lake Compounce very often and I don’t believe I will be returning . Too many incidents for me to continue to waste my money and time

Great theme park for the family in Connecticut. The staff do a wonderful job. The rain came down and we were offered a voucher to come back another day. Great value. Even in the rain it was a super enjoyable day.

John O — Google review

This is a great amusem*nt park featuring a unique wooden roller coaster (Boulder Dash) which is a true mountain coaster. They have rides for all ages from toddler up through the coaster enthusiasts. As part of your admission you have access to their large water park.We stayed on property at their campground. Very clean and secure.

Tom J — Google review

First time being season pass holders first time going it was fun but alot of the rides were not working..hopefully they will when school let's out :))

Lareisha R — Google review

A great family park. Good selection of flat rides with 2 standout roller coasters. Boulder Dash is a world-class wooden coaster... It's absolutely fantastic. Phobia Phear Coaster is a super cool multi-launch coaster with some dizzying inversions. Very unique! Ride staff are super nice and friendly. Not a destination park, but if you're in the area it's worth stopping by. The park's history is a nice touch.

Aquarium

Nature & Parks

The Long Island Aquarium is a popular tourist attraction that features a variety of interactive exhibits and displays showcasing marine and island wildlife. The aquarium boasts one of the largest coral displays in the Western Hemisphere, as well as a massive shark tank and touch tanks for hands-on exploration. Visitors can enjoy up-close encounters with penguins, sea lions, and seals through interactive features like selfies, meal prep sessions, boat rides, shark dives, feeding stingrays, and frolicking with sea lions.

Went on Mother's day which is you have a paid child than mom's go for free. Even though my son could have gotten in for free since he's under 2 it was worth paying for him instead of an adult ticket. They gave an otter presentation which I really enjoyed. The butterfly garden was also my favorite. Great fun place for anyone who is an animal lover! Highly recommend

Nicole C — Google review

This place is always a fun time! Its great for bringing a date or taking the family! The sea lion show is a definite highlight! My kids also loved the sting ray petting pool!

Michael L — Google review

Honestly, the LIA was very fun. They have a lot of interactive exhibits perfect for little kids. You can pet the stingrays, and they have a whole touch tank further into the aquarium. Outside they even have a place to walk with some crabs. Very fun and interactive. The seal show was amazing, and fun way to get a break and sit down for a bit.Overall, it was enjoyable. The butterfly room was also nice. Spent around 3 hours there, you could do more if you stayed to do interactive shows but not necessary.3 stars because it is +$50, and parking is additional cost ($12!) a few blocks away. Tickets are cheaper by a few dollars if you order online. At least it was a comfortable temperature inside. The seal show was outside at noon with limited shade so you do get hot pretty fast. Was moderately busy, but did come on a rainy Saturday. Work recommend a different time but I didn’t think it ruined the experience.

Sarah H — Google review

This aquarium would be great for children, low viewing level so kids can see in. The place is well decorated, there is a huge shark tank you can watch from above and below. You can feed turtles and manta-rays in the front area. Don't forget there is a sea lion show that is a must see. Plus in the back there is a jungle gym tree and some tunnels to play in.For adults, I think it is lacking signage with information about what's in each tank and a few facts about them. Plus it felt like a few of the tanks were smaller than they should be (not my profession, just seemed smaller than other aquariums I have been to)Over all a good aquarium, maybe they need to clean up in general a little and adjust how tanks are set up.But I would go again.

My favorite aquarium on the East Coast! That’s my second time in this aquarium and nothing changed still beautiful! The Atlantis theme awesome Poseidon the Greek God unbelievable as a idea love every second there with my family! Picture with the Penguin and the sea lion show amazing experience! Butterfly garden breathtaking with the music . Snorkeling I’m sure unforgettable for the kids . Tickets for adult $42, parking 2 blocks away $12 for the day (not include for the tickets also if you wanna do the snorkeling it’s extra $39picture with animals extra $22 (food kids eat inside the aquarium) fresh, drinks have free refills soda slushes too.Opening hours not so late weekdays 10-4 weekend till 5 if you wanna enjoy all adventures better to start there earlier.I know it’s cost a lot together but once in the whole worth the trip!

Brigitta D — Google review

Plan to spend the day. The aquarium is expensive. If you plan to come twice a year it’s worth it to become a member. There is a lot to do to keep everyone entertained. There are shows throughout the day and the staff is knowledgeable and happy to chat about the animals they care about. Also, checkout the rock wall and climbing play area. Food is also expensive so pack snacks.

Anne D — Google review

We went and received one free entry for my son's bday. My ticket was $52. Parking was 2 blocks away for $12. But I suspect there was cheaper nearby municipal parking. We just didn't know the area well enough to look for it.Overall, we had a good visit when we went with the bday discount. We stayed for 2 hours and looked at the exhibits twice. There really was no need to spend more than 2 hours there. Butterfly room was nice.Very crowded on a Friday morning with so many kids from summer camps.

Frances L — Google review

We've been at the weekend and on a week day, it is definitely better to visit on a weekday as there is free parking and free entrance to the butterfly farm. This is a nice aquarium, with a great shark tank, sea lion shows and various fresh water and salt water tanks. There are also otters, snow.monkeys, bugs, porcupines, etc. My son loves coming here with all the different things to see. His favourite are the sharks, turtles and Ray petting pond.

Karen H — Google review

What a great place we have here on Long Island!I recommend visiting at least once, you will definitely want to come back again. It is interesting not only for children but also for adults!I really like the exhibition with butterflies.Every time I am charged here with positive and good mood, it's like returning to childhood, I want to smile more often! Also, I want to thank you for the wonderful and informative boat trip on the Tour boat on September 3rd.In conclusion, I want to say that this is a really interesting place to have fun with both children and grandparents, for the whole family. If you plan to visit the Aquarium several times a year, buy a membership - it will save you time and money.

Natalia I — Google review

The staff get a 4.5. They are really knowledgeable and so enthusiastic. They are so great with visitors especially the children. However, it is really expensive for such a small aquarium. Spent almost $100 on tickets for 1 child and 1 adult plus parking. They charge you $12 to use the playground onsite. The glass on the attractions are hard to see through. My baby struggled to see the creatures. But he did have a great time and so I give it a 3.8.

T M — Google review

Great place to take the kids but the cost of admission, parking, and food was high. Seven dollars for a small soda is outrageous! We did have a good time though.

Patricia C — Google review

My 7 month old loved the aquarium but a lot of the exhibits were closed or under construction..Maybe because of the off season (we went on a weekday in mid May) but for the price of admission I expected more. The penguins weren't out and we didnt see sea lions. Many of the tanks looked like they needed to be cleaned and some of the animals looked sad to me. The people working there were very friendly and the girl at the desk did tell us if we waited until 3, the price was half off, which we appreciated. Overall a fun experience but definitely pricey.

Julie L — Google review

Bring your wallet. Expensive but kids enjoyed the sea lion show and I do recommend the boat ride to the private island. Even though it is an additional cost from the admission price, the guide Sydney was very informative and engaged the children of all ages on the boat. Very enjoyable. Lunch also is expensive and slushee machine was not working properly on a hot day. Plan to walk a few blocks from the parking lot to the entrance

Mary S — Google review

Had a wonderful time with the family. Every fish/ animal is placed according to a theme.

P C — Google review

A little pricey but worth every penny, especially for young children. The seal and penguin shows are included and were fun as well as educational.

Mike V — Google review

My three-year old girl did really enjoy her time there, as it has variety of fishes and different size of sharks, and has a booth where children can touch a live horseshoe crab. And also live penguins and seals. The food, while it tasted fine, was quite expensive so it would be better to eat before or after, considering the fact that the ticket price is quite expensive (it would have cost more than $100 for three had I not had DD-214 (that gave us about $80 in total). I will probably go there again with my daughter, but not more than once a year.P.S: I really appreciate and was touched by a young man who worked at the counter and processed my payment, as he said, “Thank you for your service” after I showed my DD-214.

Amazing place! Highly recommend to each & everyone whatever age & size. There's shows, so much hands on activities. Great for all the senses to be aroused. My favorite part and only reason I went was for the butterflies. Great butterfly conservatory that's open year round... that's phenomenal. Highly recommend.🦋The sting rays you can touch and see up close and personal. The sea lions, penguins, monkeys, and ottors are amazing as well & up close and personal.🦋There's a rescue owl here, lavender brown.🦋If you love nature, this is the place for you and your loved ones.🦋there's a cafe here!🦋there's a gift shop🦋The staff are all informative & courteous.🦋there's many events here that take place.

Cami — Google review

Today's visit went from bad to absolutely horrible and ruined pretty much the rest of the day. I normally buy tickets at my local library because it's $27 instead of almost 48 at the library. So I purchased four tickets this morning because my daughter gets in for free and I had a friend whose birthday was next Wednesday. When we got there the lady tried to explain to us that his birthday was in fact technically 8 days because they count today as a day which still makes no sense because his birthday was next Wednesday. Which one week equals 7 days not 8. We even pulled up a calendar and tried to do the math with her but she said that we either paid for him or he didn't get in. Whatever! I had another ticket in the car so I just had my one friend run back to my car and grab another ticket. Things took a turn for the worse when we went to the reptile exhibit and we watched the uromastyx lizards get into a full on fight one literally was bitten the other on the side so bad that there was blood. We decided to knock on the door that said employees only to alert them that the one lizard was harmed. We were met with a teenage looking boy sitting down and a bunch of kids just laughing saying oh that's how they play. We tried to explain to them that we all work in an animal store and that lizards don't in fact play with each other like that. I even tried to tell the guy that they should look at the reptile to check out the wound because it was bleeding and he said that the lizard was perfectly fine. Not too sure how a lizard that looks like it was getting half eaten and bleeding everywhere. Perfectly fine but whatever. I honestly don't think I will be returning in the future. It's sucks because the butterfly lady and the lady at the sea turtle were wonderful if only the rest of the staff could take notes.

I recently visited the Long Island Aquarium in Riverhead, and it was a mixed experience. There were various captivating exhibits to explore, with the highlight being the stunning butterfly exhibit that's a must-see. However, my visit was marred by the fact that several exhibits were closed, possibly due to ongoing development or arriving too early. One disappointment was the high cost of food, as I paid a hefty $21 for a grilled chicken sandwich that was mostly filled with lettuce and a side of sweet potato fries. On the positive side, despite the setbacks, the overall experience was enjoyable and fun (I'll update this review in the upcoming days, but I'll leave it like this for the time being so I don't forget to review it).

The best aquarium in New York.(Personal opinion)Absolutely loved the experience. The staff was kind and educational. Indoor and outdoor was exceptionally clean. Well kept and very welcoming. 10/10

Cute place, it's small but tons to see. And just when you done you have seen everything there always more. It's worth checking out!. And includes the butterfly room too.

Christine B — Google review

It is a very beautiful place, with a great setting and a wide exhibition of marine species, nice for children over 3 years old, young people and adults ... The bathrooms are comfortable, the employees are very friendly, the games area needs to fix some machines The food is expensive for potatoes and hamburgers. They should have cheaper options. I recommend you read the menu before eating the food, it is on the top of the cash register 🥲🤔🫨🧐🙈🙉🙊😉😉😉

Carlo B — Google review

It's almost enchanting lol great place a bit expensive and the parking is eh, it's there.

Thomas R — Google review

Always a fun visit! We got discounted tickets at our local library and then went for my sister's birthday. Everyone (regardless if you have tickets or are buying there) waits online to get in and get their hands stamped. Parking is $12 in a dirt lot down the road. The butterfly room was magical. There is so much to see and a new playground for the kids. You can also buy food at the aquarium if you're looking for a quick lunch

Haley K — Google review

It was better than I remember from when I came as a teenager. My toddler loved the outdoor section where we could get in the water with the crabs and the tree play area.

Andie Z — Google review

Great place. A little pricey even for seniors but well worth it! There's something for everyone. I especially liked the butterfly exhibit where the butterflies fly about the room landing on shrubbery people and benches. It's a sight to behold!

Margaret B — Google review

Great place to visit. Lots of things to see and experience. You can also feed the stingrays, turtles and fishes.

Bill Y — Google review

Too little to see For the price $50 dollars for adults and 40 for kids and so many attractions are closed for season. On top of that the attraction in picture is not included $12 moreFor of season prices have to be adjusted in my opinion specially if the attractions are closed for the season

Luis P — Google review

Huge variety to see from butterflies, to insects, to reptiles, and all things aquatic. Hand feeding the rays was a real treat!

Trisha B — Google review

I didn’t hate it or love it but it’s definitely not worth the $50 entrance. The sea lion show was okay. The butterfly area was also oky nothing special. The monkeys were nowhere to be found. Finished in 3 hours.

I live all the way in Queens and I did the whole trip to go to the Victoria Secret Outlet. When I got there I was disappointed because it wasn’t what I expected. I saw a lot of reviews on TikTok and it wasn’t the same. I don’t know if i just went at the wrong time but they didn’t have mush stuff or a lot of sizes. I walked around the rest of the mall and it was very nice. This place has a lululemon outlet store which definitely caught my attention as well.

Adriana L — Google review

Nice place to do Christmas shopping and is very close to Manhattan around one hour and 20 minutes.

Professional D — Google review

Very clean and well maintained. The curbs front of too many stores are not handicapped accessible. Tanger 2 could use an improvement on its parking area to be like Tanger 1. Where it’s more garden area and perhaps a town square concept for concerts.

Antoinette C — Google review

My experience was not good at all… I ended up going to the Sun glasses store. The girl that was there headed straight towards me and was staring at every move I made it was very uncomfortable… I asked if the prices had a discount and she was like ugh no, I ended up buying sunglasses for $210 and the same ones online are $174. Won’t go again

Mertxe M — Google review

we used to like this mall, but not anymore. Prices have gone way too high, and many of the stores tell you that they are NOT outlet stores. So why are they in an outlet mall? It's a real rip-off. Also, they charge $10 membership so they give you a coupon book, but the coupons are not accepted in most stores on any sales, so why charge money for it? Want to save money? Stay home and shop on the web.

We love the Riverhead Outlets, we visit as often as we can. We try to go mid-week so it isn't as busy, but always great!I personally love the White House Black Market store and visit there as often as I can. Much better than the Tanger outlets in Deer Park in my opinion. Live about equidistant to both locations and always chose this one since it has better parking, store selections and food choices as well since the other does not have an official food court. Like that the outlet is split up into two sections and it's really easy to navigate to get from one store to another, not a maze like Deer Park.

Water & Amusem*nt Parks

Splish Splash Water Park is a large and exciting water park that offers a variety of themed body and tube slides, including drop slides. The park also features wave pools, waterslides, and a separate area for younger children to enjoy. It's the perfect place to cool off on hot summer days. There are multiple snack options available within the park, so visitors can stay all day without going hungry. However, due to its popularity during peak season, lines for food can be long at times.

I never knew this place existed until I visited with friends. It was super fun! There were short wait lines for rides and the rides were simple and fun. I recommend this place to groups of ppl for hot days when you want to spend hours in the water. I love that this park is family friendly and you can leave and come back in without having to pay so you can pack food in a cooler and go back to your car to eat it then get back into the park and have a great time. There is plenty of parking and I liked that this place was busy but not overcrowded.

Jennifer F — Google review

It was a very hot day so splish splash was insanely packed. The kids had a great time and the park was very clean. My only complaint is I waited over an hour on line for food. They need more people working in the concession stands.

Niko D — Google review

My family and I visited this place via our church bus trip for our youth group ministry. It was my first time and so was my family as well. My wife and I purchased tickets in advance. The church sponsored the children and youth so that segment was orchestrated by the youth counselor. There was a wait to enter about 30 minutes. All the rides were thrilling and exciting and the kids loved them. This theme park was water-based. The average depth was 2 to 4 feet. However, there were a few that had 10-foot drop so these types of rides may prove difficult for nonswimmers. Although safety vests were available for most if not all rides and pools. The parking was free and sufficient for many types of vehicles and tour buses. The staff was very friendly knowledgeable courteous and professional and was always available to help for the most part. I would recommend this place for your recreational events and trips.

Lego U — Google review

No mask required, bring your own dive shoes, if you have them. So unfortunately when we did visit this place it was cold 🥶, but from another point we had no lines to wait. On some of the ride we did ride couple of times. Overall place is good, I would not say it is huge, but it is nice day trip to enjoy. They are closing at 5-6 pm, so plan accordingly and arrive earlier.

Tahmina A — Google review

Love this park every year. We go a bit early in the season to avoid crowds and deal with a bit colder water but well worth it. Treat yourself and GET A CABANA!! Shaded place to regroup and everyone loved not having to search for a spot to sit to eat. Getting served margaritas by the wave pool while the teenagers ran around the park, absolutely yes please!

Cristine B — Google review

We are visiting family in NYC from Canada. Definitely better than anything we got back home. It was a hot day but all that tree canopy made it a very pleasant day. Naturally popular rides will have a line up but if that isn't your cup of tea they do have a fast pass system. Kiddo loves the wave pool. If you're in NYC this ain't a bad day trip idea.

Rochester — Google review

It's not a very family environment. Girls wearing thong bathing suits everywhere with theirs butts all out and kids around. The wave pool was a mess with their butts in kids faces. Honestly it was Disgusting...Second too much line holding. I understand if it's 1 or 2 people but people holding lines for families and like 10 will come and pop up randomly in front of others which one day will cause a big issue if someone does it in front of someone who is willing to say something. They need people monitoring the lines for the big rides that don't require tubes up the stairs cause with a tube nobody is getting pass you.Third the lifeguard in the dinosaur ride this morning wasn't paying attention and my son nearly drown. She was looking around in the sky and i had to yell at her to get her focus on my son. Just be careful and don't trust other people with your children.Food was reasonably priced but wasn't so good. Also this is the only lazy river with a line. I go to water parks all the time and i never EVER seen a line for lazy river. Everywhere else i been to allows you to just go in the lazy river without a tube if you don't want one. And people just roam around and this lazy river is pretty big then others i been too.Overall it's a nice water park but like i said it's not something i will bring my kids to again cause women walking around half naked.

It is a suitable place to have fun with the family. There are attractions for children and adults (depending on height). Food is not allowed in the park, but there are several options inside and it did not seem costly to me.There are a good number of lockers with various sizes. The only thing I didn't like is the shower system, you have to use a chain and keep it in your hand at all times, this chain is too bad and how do you bathe with one hand? Or bathe your children I recommend buying tickets in advance, the entry line is short and fast, but the ticket sales line can be slow. The photo is of a wave pool, super fun!

rides are cool. some really amazing.i understand business gotta make money but i dnt understand why simple bottled water and gatorade are not allowed, then they wanna charge you $4 a bottle inside. insane! and one bad experience was that, after waiting almost 2 hrs to get onto one of the popular ones, they shut it off for 5pm and the wait was in vain. that was pretty annoying and disappointing. id say go to dorney park if you ask me

Clevie H — Google review

The place is spectacular, excellent maintenance, the bathrooms are clean. The guys who help organize the lines could be quicker. I give the food two stars, pizza, chicken nuggets and hamburgers are not of the best quality. The park could use more food variety.Important tip: you cannot enter the park with ANY type of food or drink, if you take it you will have to leave it at the entrance. But don't worry, if you bring food, you leave it inside the car and you can go out to the parking lot, where there is an area with tables and seats, where you can eat.

Somana — Google review

Make sure you get here early and set aside a whole day to conquer this park. It is expansive. The best water park I've ever been to and easily the biggest and best in the northeast. Look into purchasing your ticket online, it tends to be considerably less expensive.

Aaron M — Google review

I love this place. Ive been going here since I was a baby and I’m coming back on Father’s Day. I would recommend ordering tickets online. It takes less time to get in! Also to get started I would go on the lazy river or dinosaur falls. On the website it says it’s moderate but it’s a very calmer ride except the end (aka the best part)

A season pass is a must!!! I have been a faithful visitor with multiple season passes because this is my favorite waterpark to visit. Splish Splash is organized. Their staff is knowledgeable, they have great security, you never have to second guess anything while you’re there. Allowing you to just relax and focus on fun, fun, fun.!The whole family will love their time here. Just invite everyone to enjoy the place with you! At least that’s what I do.

Shelly-Ann S — Google review

Just returned from Splish Splash, and my entire family had a blast. The park just recently opened for the season, so there were no long lines or extended wait time. Recommend to go early in the season. Otherwise, you can buy the flash pass and skip the lines. Highly recommended for kids ages 6 and up. Perfect for a hot day and some family fun.

Onika D — Google review

Entered around noon. I enjoyed all of the rides. It was exhilarating. I'm so glad I did it with my daughter. I only hold back two stars because food is too expensive and not too great. And lines are extremely long and not adequately managed. People cut like they own it without purchased the HGO bands. But yes, If you are not a frequent member and it's a random family event, I recommend buying the band to save tons of time.

Nisha C — Google review

My cousins and I took our kids yesterday, for me it was my 1st visiting and I liked how they have rides and water slides for all ages. We rented one of the cabanas and have our own private space so that was cool. To enjoy your time and money go there before 10am to get w nice parking and be 1st in lines for the rides !!!

Nikita T — Google review

5/5. Recommend going exactly at 10am if not a bit before. Buy the h2go pass! Or you will be waiting hours to get on a ride. Expect to spend the whole day there if you want to get on all of the rides. Even with h2go pass i was not able to complete all of the rides. Because wait time was more than 40minutes (with pass)

Kay L — Google review

Very Beautiful park.. I went last week, Thursday … I loved the service from the food to the rides. i was helped by a Young lady named Kiana At ticket booth window she was very bubbly and helpful. Some of the food is very delicious.. May be expensive but it’s worth it in my eyes.

I love Splish Splash. I have been coming here for over 15 years. It is the best waterpark in the east coast that I have been to. The staff are very pleasant and welcoming. The bathrooms are always kept clean. The park has safety/police officers. Unlike the other waterpark that I went to last month, Splish Splash has plenty of tubes/floaties for free. The food prices and options are also reasonable.

Mau C — Google review

literally so expensive. mandatory $30 parking ?? anyways, my family and I were excited to come to splish splash. we hadn’t visited in over 2 years. our excitement quickly turned into annoyance bc their staff is HORRIBLE ! every ride we went on, the staff was so rude. they just hire anyone it seems like.

Kendy E — Google review

Just wanted to give a shout out to a worker named Ashleigh she went above and beyond to make our experience great at splish splash. Seems like they are putting alot of money and time into new guest experiences which is great but pretty please with sugar on top bring back Cliff diver....

Chris S — Google review

My family and I went there for a getaway from the city and responsibilities. The place has a lot of attractions that will make your experience worth the while. I really loved the lazy river, the pool of waves and the house of horror (I think that is the name). My cousin and I went to the house of horror and were feeling a mix of terror and excitement. I would go on that ride again if I have to. It is definitely one I would recommend. Besides, the lazy river is amazing! Let’s just say that after a day full of activities at the park, you want to go into a new-last adventure, then the lazy river is perfect for you! Highly recommended

Jamely F — Google review

Had a fun day on the rides. I would not recommend the food here. It's easier than packing a cooler but you're allowed in and out of the park with the stamp so it makes sense to bring better food at a cheaper price. Also one beer is $13. We haven't been in a while and liked the new rides

Haley K — Google review

Spent a fun day at splish splash with my family of 7. We came on a day when it was not crowded so the whole experience was enjoyable. Why only 3 stars? The SNACK SHACK! Zero stars! Splish splash, I was appalled at the order of fried chicken and French fries I received. It cost 17.99 for just one order and it looked like they fried it three times over. The order was cold when I got it and when I took a bite out of the chicken it was stale! I was absolutely appalled. I had to throw it all out. I was truly disgusted.

Yasmin G — Google review

Season pass holders for years now. We are so happy to have this place close to home. We don’t have a pool, so it’s great to have somewhere to enjoy the water and nice weather as often as we want. I recommend you buy the gold or platinum pass to cover the parking costs. They have a nice selection of food and drinks available for purchase but you’re welcome to bring a few sealed snacks and bottles of water, which I appreciate. There are lots of trees so you don’t get pounded by the sun all day, which is another nice perk. There are attractions for all ages, a little something for everyone.

J M — Google review

I live Splish Splash, but this time around, I was upset. The water was so COLD! I was able to take pictures while at the lazy river and rides and whatnot, but water was way too cold. My children got sick the next day, runny nose and cough. After a restful 5 days, they were better but im hoping next year is better.

Jay R — Google review

The park has a wide variety of attractions, from thrilling water slides to more relaxed lazy river rides. The food options were also impressive, with a range of choices to suit all tastes and dietary needs. I enjoyed the chicken tenders and fries.Overall, our experience at Splish Splash was a good time! I would recommend this waterpark but wait time for everything takes a long time. I waited one hour to go on a water slide. At the entrance there’s a big chair that says “Splish Splash” that you can take pictures with.

‘ashley B — Google review

I absolutely LOVED this Waterpark it's humongous! The food is pretty good and they have a bunch of different slides to go on. They have a kiddie section and this place is overall just fun!! Would definitely recommend!

Monroe S — Google review

We live in New York but I have never seen this trashy water park we saw with my family a rat just swimming down the lazy river and yes the lifeguards just doesn't care I saw a kid almost drowned but the lifeguards said "he is fine" but when the father of the child saved the kid the kid threw up almost 1 gallon of water like what was life guards for? , and also the slides are very dirty and old (feels like it's about to fall) and the tickets are just a scam we used over $200( for 2 adults and two kids) including the food, gas andthe line for the slides and the wave pool is full of trash and hair so I would prefer to go to a different water parks please

Natural history museum

Museums

Yale Peabody Museum of Natural History showcases exhibits and dioramas on evolution, natural environments, and human origins with a regional emphasis. The museum features an array of skeletons, fossils, well-preserved taxidermy, and dazzling gemstones along with some artifacts. It's an entertaining and informative destination for nature enthusiasts of all ages. The venue features wheelchair access via a ramp at the entrance as well as an elevator.

Wonderful place! Hands down! When I visited this museum the first thing that came to my mind was “the night at the museum” movie. The experience was so exhilarating and there are different sections in museum which makes it a complete tour of history, galaxy and earth. I would love to ho again. For students the entry fees was only 6 dollars.

Nice place for kids. A bit all over the place (what’s the point of the Egyptian part, so small it does not add value.) worth for the stones only (crazy quartz.) we all wait for the renovation: the dinosaur part looks so dusty. Good time and everybody is very friendly.

Thomas R — Google review

Yale Peabody Museum of Natural History has a variety of skeletons, fossils, well-preserved taxidermy and awe inspiring gemstones with a few artifacts here and there. It is loads of fun and educational for those that take an interest in nature. It is a great place to visit for children and adults alike. Make sure to give yourself at least 3 hours for soaking up the sights, taking photos and visiting the gift shop! There is a ramp at the entrance and also an elevator for those in wheelchairs. Thursdays between 2pm and 5pm is pay as you please, but I feel that the experience is definitely worth paying full admission for! :)

Lilkitkit89 — Google review

Beautiful museum with free entrance fee.The collection is limited so don't plan to spend too much time in there. The dinosaur fossil display is great and so are the dioramas and natural science exhibits.I do feel like they are very pushy of the evolutionary theory and disregard other theories/beliefs that people may hold. It's still interesting but take it at face value.

Adriana P — Google review

I would like to start with few important things:1. They have plenty of parking and it’s FREE even in downtown.2. I went on Thursday and it’s open to public on that day. I’m not too sure if it’s free for rest of the days.3. Friendly staff and museum is well-maintained.4. Museum is spectacular! You can almost everything in the museum. Animals, Birds, Minerals, Human Species and many more.

Sunny K — Google review

This is very nice and very informative museum. It has 3 floors. Lobby or level 1 has dinosaurs and old scripts. Level 2 consists of animals and related to human evolution and level 3 is very beautiful and consists of rocks and minerals. Tells about meteorite, minerals etc. One must visit this museum when in new haven. For kids it is specially very much like activity based as there are people on these floors with creative ways to explain them about the artefacts.

Bob ( — Google review

This was my first time in the museum, it was truly something magical. The fossils were outstanding, although I only were in the first floor I can say that is exactly how I imagined the museum to be. The staff at the reception were very friendly, offered free stickers! They all complimented my Sailor Moon jacket , too! The gift shop wasn't opened because they aren't completely done renovating the location but will be opened later this month (April 2024), the experience is worth while. I only took a picture of the sidewalk, it was super cute! (YOU CAN SEE THEM IN THIS POSTING) I didn't take pictures of the exhibitions because I was lost learning.A must see!

My husband, my 8 year old daughter and I went to the Yale Peabody Museum yesterday, which was Wednesday. This way it wouldn't be too crowded. When we got there, the museum parking was full, so we had to find a place on the street. Some of the meters were reserved and almost all of the streets you need a permit to park. We had tickets for 11:00, but we spent 20 minutes driving around trying to park.Luckily, we found a spot that didn't require a permit or have a meter. When we finally got to the museum, it was worth it. All of the things that were on display were amazing and beautiful. There were people at the museum, but with enough space to walk around without bumping into anyone. The parking is a nightmare if you don't get a museum parking spot, but we enjoyed the museum. When we are in New Haven again, we'll be back.

This is a New Haven treasure, that is beloved by generations. I was fortunate enough to take my son prior to the renovations. I am excited to see what changes the museum will hold. I always enjoy the special exhibits they host and was excited to see the Mesopotamian, California Gold and especially the Mineral and Gem exhibits and as always the Dinosaurs.

We went with my daughters school and they had so much fun!! Definitely a great way for children to learn. Each and every kid that went was very happy and excited to see everything! I personally loved seeing how the ants carry their food back and forth!

Loved this museum and its getting a 3rd floor soon. It was interesting, easy to follow along with the information on exhibits, QR codes on the walls for added trivia. Bathrooms on both levels. Kids will love the dinosaurs. Seating area to rest and regroup.

Do you have all day to explore? Because you're going to need all day to explore. There's SO much to see and do here, it's hard to even know where to begin. I loved spending time with the gems and minerals, and my partner couldn't be pulled away from the dinosaurs. There's a little something for everyone!

Took my family who was visiting from out of town on the first open weekend - although it felt like “soft opening” because the third floor and much of the second floor were empty- it was still a lot of fun for my 5 year old and even his grandparents!I also appreciated the exhibit recognizing Yale’s racist past and connection to the eugenics movement.Would note that they do not have a cafe or somewhere to get a bite- not sure if that’s to come.Overall- bring your out of town guests! Also it’s free!!!

Mida M — Google review

Such a beautiful place! So much information and very well organized. Staff always around wiping displays down. Bathrooms are fresh on every floor. We will be back. I highly recommend for all ages. Younger children may appreciate seeing live butterflies, snakes, fish, and frogs.Tickets may be purchased online for FREE. This secures a time slot incase they are too busy. At the desk verify your email receipt and at the end of the visit, validate your parking with a slip you need from parking lot.

I went to the grand opening and was super excited. The renovation is beautiful considering since the last time I was there was probably 35/40 yrs ago. The display of such history and information is fantastic. I will be visiting again in a few weeks because the third floor was not opened upon the grand opening visit, looking forward to it.

The Peabody Museum has finally reopened! Very impressive exhibits! A great resource for families and students. (And, admission is free.)

Kevin M — Google review

This museum is free, which makes it incredible. It is small with an eclectic collection. There is an accessible seating area for a rest between exhibits. I did not reserve tickets in advance. We visited the museum and received walk-in tickets. Walk-in tickets are not guaranteed but worth a try as the wait to reserve tickets is long.

L D — Google review

Finally had the chance to visit the newly reopened museum! While not everything is back open to the public yet, most of the museum is. The remodel is beautiful, and there is an entire gallery of living animals, including butterflies and poison dart frogs. Can't wait for the mineral wing to reopen! You DO need to reserve tickets in advance in order to visit the museum. That said, admission is now free to the public. They have recently expanded the number of reservations available as well.

Nicole S — Google review

Enjoyable and comfortable museum with a nice variety of displays on three floors. The size is not overwhelming and can be covered well in an afternoon. I do wish some displays had more text to learn from and adding some interactivity would make the beautiful space even more inviting. I love how the Moesgaard Museum in Denmark does that and this museum would do well to emulate. A highlight for me was seeing the work Yale students and faculty were progressing and learning a bit about them in the bios offered. I would certainly return and recommend the Yale Peabody Museum.

Anthony L — Google review

Great place to visit to see amazing display of discoveries. Must see!

Burcin K — Google review

Visited for the first time since the remodeling was done. I really love this gem of a natural history museum. They kept a lot of the old favorites, and added tons of new exhibits. The fact that it's free to visit now is also amazing. Can't go wrong.

The Yale Peabody Museum of Natural History was amazing. I remember coming here nearly 30 years ago, and it's still as amazing (if not more-so) as an adult as it was when I was younger. The gold display was fascinating as was the dinosaur bones/fossils. 🦕

Derik W — Google review

For free admission, this is an excellent stop. The museum is clean, well maintained and has a plethora of information on a number of different things. Our stop was educational and entertaining. Many, many exhibits were “coming soon,” which was a bit of a bummer BUT still definitely worth the time spent. Plan for at least 2 hours to see everything and read about everything.

Victoria R — Google review

This is a nice little museum! Don’t expect to spend the whole day here, it’s a limited collection but what they do have is interesting and awe-inspiring enough. I came for the dinosaurs but the old-timey medical exhibit was a creepily pleasant surprise. I drove an hour from New York and think it was well worth the visit (New Haven is a cool town to see in general).

Yale University, a distinguished private institution established in 1701 and recognized for its exceptional liberal arts, music, and drama programs. The campus is a sight to behold - comparable to Oxford - although access to certain areas may be limited due to security measures. Yale's reputation as an intellectual haven is well-deserved as it fosters the pursuit of truth and knowledge. However, caution is advised when exploring outside the Yale grounds as New Haven can be sketchy in some parts.

Stunning campus. Reminds me of Oxford. Unfortunately student campus tours were cancelled after we made plans to visit, so we created our own itinerary. Lots of areas were closed off to outsiders, and I watched as students entered through large gates with key-in access from their phones. Only downside of Yale is New Haven itself. Outside of the Yale campus, New Haven can be a little sketchy in some areas and I would advise caution when roaming.

Went to check out Yale with my son. Our drive was about 1.5 hours from Citi Field in Queens. The tour started promptly at 9 am. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable and answered many questions while we walked the exterior and learned about their campus. A nice day and good experience. The tour was approximately 1.25 hours. There was metered street parking at 1.50 per hour with a 2 hr limit - meters there take all silver coins, credit cards (not AMEX) and an app.

Full disclosure: I didn't go to school here, so I can't speak to the academics. I did work with an alumnus and he was a cool guy, so I'm guessing this university is a great place. The campus is beautiful in an old, classic way. It's so stunning, I'd say it merits a visit on its own. I had a great time scrolling through campus and snapping pics. The museum on campus was free admission and had some impressive displays. All in all, I liked Yale.

The ushers are courteous seniors in white dress shirts while security measures include bag checks upon entry. What a beautiful venue. Perfect space for a concert, it had great acoustics. You felt transported to a time when theaters themselves were art. I love it when cities preserve these historical gems and not turn them into office buildings or a parking garage. I went to see Donny Osmond in concert. Locals should definitely visit this concert hall, you should checkout their show line up, there are all kinds of different options. You will not be disappointed. I'm so glad I was able to experience this great concern in a venue worthy to this iconic performer.

The Yale Center for British Art, an impressive museum designed by architect Louis I. Kahn, boasts the largest collection of British art outside of Britain itself. The center provides a comprehensive survey of English art, culture and history through various periods. Visitors can easily navigate the building without assistance as it is well-structured with exhibits that cater to all ages. Admission is free, and multiple visits offer different perspectives on the arts collection.

Wow - that guy Turner is everywhere, isn't he? I seem to see Turner paintings everywhere I go, and they never disappoint. Aside from the fiery, ethereal depictions of stormy seas and calm harbors painted by Turner, you will find an astounding collection of British portraiture here, especially from the 18th century. The zenith of the British Academical school, combining classical techniques with a lightly airy and even Rococo sensibility, can be found here. There's also more modern art here, which isn't really my thing, but I respect the creativity. The museum itself is elegant and spacious. I highly recommend coming here.

My all-time favorite art museum designed by Louis Kahn. Fabulous galleries and public spaces and fantastic collection. Love it, love it, love it!

Nils P — Google review

Largest collection of British art outside of the U.K.. Great lay out. Broken down by important periods in British history. One can traverse the building easily from one floor to the next without the aid of any visual guide.Good trip for a family. Exhibits can be enjoyed by all ages. No admission fee. Multiple trips can be had, providing different perspective and appreciation for the arts.

Beautiful building and amazing exhibition. This museum has a nice large exhibition, from classic painting and sculptures to contemporary art. The building itself it's beautiful, it doesn't say much from the outside but the interior is modern, integrates the space with the exhibitions and with the outside light. This place exceeded my expectations. Very important to notice that the entry is free.

Very nice organise Museum. Regularly changing exhibition. Environmental control. Very hight restoration level.

So I came here towards the end of 2021 and while it’s small and was able to get through it fairly quickly, it was still worth the time. The staff was very nice and there is a lot of good artwork from the British. Pair this with the university art gallery and it’s a great day of art.And it’s free. Which is a great reason to go.

Jose O — Google review

This is hands down my favorite museum in the world. Designed by famous architect Louis Khan (his last - albeit unfinished - work), it is an architectural marvel hosting some of the most beautiful artistic gems this world has ever seen. I’d especially recommend a trip to the library hidden at the museum’s center.

Franklyn Z — Google review

A world class museum of British art directly across the street from the Yale Art Gallery. While they are both free the museums use timed tickets that you can obtain on their websites. This is as of the summer of 2021. You must also be masked at all times while on the premises.

J. H — Google review

Free to enter and explore. Curious gallery space at the top with a lot of natural light and airy atmosphere. Look for the brutalist architecture all around you (exposed cast concrete wall, railing, ceiling).

Jose R — Google review

Have been meaning to visit this pearl at Yale for a year and finally made a trek to New Haven. Impressive gift shop and free entry for all who visit. Multiple floors of special exhibition and a comprehensive permanent collection of important paintings. The space is modern and offers wonderful lighting and exceptional vistas of the exhibits from multiple levels allowing the guest to view and review pieces over and over with different perspective and almost sudden surprise. The Eileen Hogan exhibit currently on view was a delicious treat into the style and discipline of an extraordinary talent.

The Yale University Art Gallery is a museum that exhibits art from different regions and time periods, housed in the notable Louis I. Kahn building among others. The gallery offers an impressive display of artwork, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in various genres and styles. On weekends, finding parking is manageable, and the staff is welcoming and helpful. Lockers are also available for storing personal belongings while exploring the exhibits.

I love going to museums and when they are free, that’s the best. Well I gotta say that this might be the best one I’ve ever been to. I was not honestly expecting much but I made the day trip up from NYC and I just loved it. The art on display is amazing. You can really get lost in everything that they have to offer.Parking wasn’t too hard to get on a Sunday. And the staff was very friendly. They do have lockers for your stuff so that was helpful. The only thing that they didn’t have was any kind of gift shop because I collect magnets from my trip and they didn’t have anything to add to my collection.

Jose O — Google review

Absolutely love the gallery! It is free and located at the heart of Yale campus. Will recommend 2 hours to go through all exhibits. There is also a gift shop and a sculpture garden.

Adati T — Google review

Such a beautiful & peaceful art museum! I spent about 2 hours here solo just enjoying the museum. Located in a stunning building, this art museum is free to all! Lots of art (modern & older) in a nice flowing layout! I started at the top floor & worked my way down. It was really quiet & enjoyable to walk around taking the art in. Each floor has staff eager to help direct you if you feel lost at any point. Totally worth a visit!

Heather B — Google review

Place is free to visit, no Pre-registration required. Masks are required, amd they do have masks to offer i believe. There are also portable stools to take with you if necessary. Bathrooms are on 1st floor and every other floor thereafter i believe. I believe the area is handicap accessible as well.Photo exhibits, modern art, western, eastern, African, and more art from around the world.Past, present and novel art.Sculptures, paintings, mixed media.4 floors with different layouts, something for everyone.Takes about 2 hours if you rush through. 4 hours if you take your time. 3 hours if you pick and choose what you like.Staff is overall friendly, vigilance varies. You will be reprimanded for pointing at greek sculptures or breathing too close, no exaggeration, but more modern art had pretty lax security, euro paintings staff were more friendly, guiding and talkative. My father sparked conversation with one of the spanish speaking staff that was Ecuadorian, which made him feel a bit more engaged.Gift shop is pretty bare bones, mostly paper media.Location is right in downtown and parking is busier on weekends.Tours are also available for those who wish lore engagement with the history and media.Overall 5 stars, especially as the no cost to visitors makes up for any small inconvenience.

Jason R — Google review

Amazing place with many different artists and exhibitions! Unbelievable that is completely free!! It has four levels in total, you will definitely need a whole day to enjoy the gallery at its fullest. I highly recommend this place.

Jorge R — Google review

Pleasantly surprised at the quality and impressive amount of art from around the world, at this gallery. From ancient art to modern art, Yale did not disappoint. I was excited to see paintings from Monet, Picasso, and many other famous artists. It's free to visit, so go and check it out! Parking is available in local private garages or on the street.

Joe K — Google review

Really cool place. The staff here were friendly and helpful with any questions we had. Parking is not super convenient. Had to pay to park in a garage a block over. Plenty of cool things to appreciate inside!

Adam W — Google review

Absolutely stunning! Exceeded expectations tenfold! The halls are beautiful in addition to the art. Very nice courtyard and easy to access. Highly recommended!

Courtney T — Google review

One of the finest small art museums in the United States. If you have a chance to see the Munch Kirchner Special Exhibition you will see a riveting and disturbing insight into 2 famous artists descent into mental illness. The rest of the library has many famous paintings and artists. Of course the famous Trumbull portrait of George Washington and the entire series of our founding fathers. There is also a fantastic impressionist section, American Art, and Greek and so much more. If you enjoy art give yourself at least 4 hours. The gift shop is nice and there are beautiful outdoor areas that are historic and a wonderful place to pause and reflect on the beauty.

Theresa H — Google review

Keep coming here for this extensive collection. You will be surprised how such a relatively small gallery is able to deliver this unique experience. All the staff here is amazing and surprise surprise the admittance is free.Well done Yale.

Alessandro F — Google review

I highly recommend this place. The gallery is exquisite. The masterpieces they have on display are amazing! Where would you get this kind of thing anywhere else? Thank you for keeping it free and available to the public. What an amazing place to visit. Highly recommend.

Hleumas H — Google review

This art gallery is an absolute treasure trove for art enthusiasts and culture aficionados. From the moment you step through its doors, you are transported into a world of artistic marvels and captivating stories. The first thing that struck me upon entering the Yale Art Gallery was the stunning architecture. The gallery spaces are thoughtfully laid out, allowing visitors to navigate through the exhibits with ease. The natural light that floods the galleries creates an enchanting ambiance, enhancing the viewing experience. Last but not the least, the collection housed within the Yale Art Gallery is nothing short of extraordinary. Spanning a vast range of periods, styles, and mediums, the artworks on display showcase the evolution of human artistic expression.

Mahjabeen R — Google review

Amazing place. I rode my bike over and locked it at the bike rack outside of the art gallery entrance. Entrance is free and they have free lockers to store your backpack and water bottle, it is an art gallery after all.It was truly wonderful seeing ancient artifacts including statues, pottery, currency, and mosaics. I only got through 3 exhibits before I left and I'm excited to return to see the remainder.I highly recommend visiting if you're in the area.

Britt S — Google review

Stopped over while on a road trip and so glad we did. This was a really beautiful museum. Highly recommend a visit. Beautiful displays, every room and floor had stunning art work. I didn’t want it to end and it was all free.

Nissy D — Google review

I love museums and have been to the major ones in NYC and this was my first visit to CT and to this museum as well. The state is breathtaking, this trip was incredible and the museum itself was breathtaking! I highly recommend taking a FREE walk thru this incredible, awe-inspiring collection of art from all over the world!

Paul R — Google review

Outstanding collection and free admission! Knowledgeable docents and even security folks were sharing info about pieces in their respective rooms if you asked a question. Our tour guide was very good and personable. I highly recommend this museum.

Kathy H — Google review

It was an absolutely fantastic experience to visit the Yale University Art Gallery! I was always fascinated with artworks across multiple cultures and eras, so the gallery perfectly provided satisfaction with an array of artworks across the globe from different time periods. The gallery itself was an articulately designed building at a much larger scale than expected and it was evenly divided into different sections, each showcasing various artworks from different areas of the world. I thoroughly enjoyed the special showcases as well and will want to recommend the gallery to everyone who wishes to visit New Haven sometime in the future.

Kwon W — Google review

Absolutely love this place. It was my first time here. I drove through the beautiful foliage from NYC to see the European Art section and it was well worth the visit. The British gallery across the street was closed. They have a well organized section of perhaps 20 or 30 paintings in the special exhibits section on the 4th floor. What I love about the Gallery (aside for the charming town it's located in), is the manageable size. Each room is small enough, to take in its richness without feeling overwhelmed (like my beloved Met). Although I spent longer with the artworks that moved me, I still didn't finish the European Arts section.Non-security employees are students who come from all over, which add to the perspectives I encountered.I look forward to returning to the art gallery and Yale libraries.Such feasts for the spirit are free, all are welcome, and indeed, there is something for everyone.

Short version: This museum offers a varied collection of art and is great for museum lovers. The security and guards are respectful & insightful, and admission is free. However, if you're not a fan of museums, you might want to skip it. 3/5Full Version:This museum is a haven in New Haven for art enthusiasts. As someone who doesn't usually enjoy museums, I found the experience surprisingly pleasant. The museum boasts a diverse collection of sculptures, paintings, and other artistic works that cater to a wide audience. One of the highlights of the visit was the respectful and insightful security and guards, who added value to the experience. Additionally, the free admission was a nice touch. While the art was displayed in a decent fashion, nothing particularly stood out as exceptional. For those who do not typically enjoy museums, it might be best to give to not chance it. Museums are for museum lovers and this will place will not create any converts.

Daniel Y — Google review

Took it for granted how robust a collection they’ve got for a long time. Came back to New Haven for a day trip and found it very easy to spend hours browsing the collection here. It’s wonderful that this gallery is free and open to the public. Cool gift shop too. Free lockers to use to store your backpack also. Would recommend stopping here if you are a person who wants to enjoy art.

Adam M — Google review

Stunning collection! Stong on modern art. African art collection by far the best I have ever seen: it is a showcase rather than the sideshow that it is in many museums. Convenient location near New Haven Green, free admission, self-service lockers, clean restrooms.

Charles C — Google review

Has artifacts from all over the world and different eras, the museum has lot to offer, especially after being free for entry. Also some great art pieces.Must visit if you’re in the area.

Neil S — Google review

Beautiful collections. Free admission. What particularly stood out to me was all the variety of Asian exhibits! It was a nice change of pace to see pieces from South, East and Southeast Asia rather than the usual in other museums. We don’t know too much about art and we spent close to 2 hours here.

Sindhu S — Google review

Such an outstanding museum. The collection is really fascinating. It is worth a trip to New Haven to see this, and it’s free!

We had a wonderful time at the winery. The aesthetic is sophisticated and simple and blend of old and new. The food was delicious. We had the crab cakes and short rib slider. But really, the vibe here is spot on. The fire was cozy, the staff was so friendly, and the wine and co*cktails were great. Kinda feels like you’re hanging out in a fancy friend’s loft. I can’t wait to return.

Adam P — Google review

2.4.23 The venue itself is amazing with comfy spots to sit in such as by the fireplace, the window, separate rooms if you have a larger party etc. The food items are also wonderful. As for the wine, perhaps it was the timing, but we only had 3 wines to choose from, and of the 4 of us, no one loved them. And all of our teeth got stained. Stained so badly that our tongues looked like the smurfs. We were told that they'll be buying some of the wines from Digrazia so hopefully that'll improve the quality of the wines. Because this place is really quite the gem. I wish them luck. And I hope next time the wine won't stain. Thanks

New owners. We went on a slow snowy afternoon and the owner was pouring and very personable. Was conscious of an apple allergie and customized the brandy mulled wine into a brandy toddy. Slight limit on the wine variety with only one red wine. The new owners gave the interior a fresh bright look.

Daniel S — Google review

My friend and I stopped in here after visiting the wonderful cowboy museum down the road. We split a bottle of the Pink Cadillac rose and the charcuterie board. We enjoyed both very much. Justin, one of the new owners, served us and told us the entire place had been renovated and the grape harvest increased under the new ownership. I had visited here a number of years ago and the place did look quite different. Still have my glass from the previous visit! Looks like a nice place to host events.

Gin B — Google review

Sooo amazing!! Cute cozy space, love the wine/brandy co*cktails, and the charcuterie was delicious. Highly recommend❤️❤️

Jaclyn B — Google review

This place is beautiful, without being pretentious. The owner, Justin, is humble and kind. Our favorite waitress, Theresa, is friendly and always there right when you need her. My husband and I have been calling this our new place - we always get what we want; him, a beer, me, a co*cktail or wine. The food is simple, but so delicious (and compared to food trucks, SO well priced!). In the winter, we enjoyed the fireplace and quiet ambience and now we can't wait to sit on the patio and enjoy the spring and summer views.Don't sleep on this place because it doesn't fit the "CT winery vibe", you'll regret it!

Dorota G — Google review

Great afternoon here! Just outside of the town center and down the road from some great hiking trails. The wine flights are any selection of 4 for $15. They also have some nice cheese plates to share. The seating on the upper deck gives a great view of the vineyard. There is a little store inside that has all the wines for sale, as well as some local products and wine accessories.Went around 1:30pm and had no problem getting a table for four.

Al L — Google review

I stopped in here with two others on a Monday afternoon after visiting the area. We were excited to see it was open on a Monday and also that it wasn't very crowded. The inside is so cute and it smells amazing inside. The fires going and the wood floors make this place charming and cozy feeling. They had a lot of white wines and then quite a few wine co*cktails on the menu which was different. They only had 1 red unfortunately and I would say it was alright. They also had a great sounding charcuterie platter with local meat and cheeses.Overall it was cute, I'd recommend a stop in especially if you like white wine.

Sammi — Google review

The first thing we noticed when we arrived was just how deserted this winery was at 5 p.m. on a Friday afternoon. There were three cars in the parking lot, two of which were employees'. The lobby wasn't much better, housing little more than an empty deli case and aging armchair. We didn't see a soul until we got to the bar area on the second floor, and only one other couple came in afterwards. The workers were friendly enough, and knew enough about the vineyard's offerings to serve us quickly. The service at times seemed too brisk; particularly when we ordered a cheese tasting and the server did little more than rattle off the names of the offerings before scurrying back behind the bar.The wine itself was 'meh.' The two of us shared two bottles: the Riesling and the Strawberry Bliss. I'm no connoisseur, but I enjoyed the Riesling well enough. The Strawberry Bliss, on the other hand, was simply Riesling with strawberry flavoring added - and that's according to the bottle. It wasn't bad by any means, but was a little disappointing to see at a winery - no less one that claims to be Connecticut's oldest.Aside from being sparsely populated, the winery itself is pleasant. Traditional wine making equipment decorates the front lawn, which is nicely complimented by a tree-lined walkway to the front door. You can see the grape vines on the side of the main building as soon as you pull in, and the rear terrace offers views of the rest. The owners clearly don't fancy themselves a big tourist trap - farming equipment is plainly scattered around the grounds, and the vineyard has more of an agricultural atmosphere than that of a tasting room.All-in-all I think this vineyard can best be described as 'nice enough.' Everything is of enough quality to be enjoyable, but nothing will blow you away and there are some pretty glaring flaws. It was a nice place to stumble on after a hike nearby, but certainly nothing to make a trip for.

Joseph G — Google review

Great visit after a ramble at the beauteous White Memorial Preserves Vineyard Trail. Litchfield. Erin was a most gracious host and I so enjoyed the chilled Pink Cadillac Rose - tangy, not sweet and just what I needed after a hot ramble, but so worth walking through a vineyard (down the road from the actual winery)! There are a great selection of wines to choose from, you are sure to find one to your taste, so I highly recommend visiting the oldest CT winery!

Kyle H — Google review

The Winter fest is a great time. This vineyard also has great wine to taste and buy but during the winter fest it is combined with good food and people that are sociable and fun. If you have the time it is definitely one of the best vineyards that I have ever been to. And I have been to over 50!!

Richard G — Google review

Nice classic tasting room in a restored barn. Beautiful views of the grape fields and tasty wine! Live music during our visit as well.4 stars only because our glasses were dusty and that’s important in my book!

With over 40 miles of walking, hiking, and biking trails, outdoor enthusiasts can explore the natural beauty of the 4,000-acre sanctuary. The center also features a museum showcasing the area's natural diversity and attractions like birds of prey exhibits.

Beautiful and peaceful...I especially enjoyed the off road bike trails. A little challenging and fun. Be prepared for uphill .work..while down hill fun.

A day well spent! The Little Pond Trail is so unique. I personally wouldn’t recommend small children unless you carry them. We then visited the museum and enjoyed it. Lots to see & interact with, many facts to learn, & the displays are amazing! There’s a cute gift shop too!Note: For bathrooms, there is an outhouse. No public restrooms in the museum.

Manda B — Google review

This place is amazing! You could spend days here just exploring.

Tiffany F — Google review

Free nature path open to the public, it's just over a mile, mainly flat easy walk, a little buggy with the water, suggest bug spray, good trail for most people. Careful with small children, not wheelchair friendly.

Lacy — Google review

Just a stunning place. Lots of well maintained trails, interesting features and buildings.

Kim H — Google review

Loved the boardwalk the most — but overall it was a very pleasant visit. Worth the trip.

Jonathan A — Google review

A very wonderful place to hike, explore, and learn! I love the museum attractions like the birds of prey exhibit as well as the pet snake and turtle they keep inside. Ongley pond behind the museum is also beautiful as I always see many turtles and ducks there. My favorite attraction here is the ice house trail and observation deck. Seeing the old foundation and canal for the ice house is remarkable, and the views of Bantam Lake can’t be beat! The Butternut Brook trail is also very interesting since you can see the back of the Litchfield Distillery from the trail. Their sensory nature trail and kayak launch is also worth a try. Can’t say enough good things about this place!

Kitten D — Google review

This place is absolutely beautiful! Many trails to hike and so peaceful. What an amazing place. A must see.

Sandy W — Google review

Visited museum at WMCC and was quite impressed by quality of its permanent collection exhibitions (taxidermist’s specifically) and history photos. Hiked trail from the center to Bantam lake then to Windmill hill. I understand these are wetlands and expecting nice fall forest views would not be realistic, but that’s the reason for one missing star.

Mike Z — Google review

Great camping area for groups!!!Always such great time here in nature.Ready access for kayaks and trails. They also host many learning events you can take advantage of.In the holiday season they also have the best Santa visits ever...

Erich W — Google review

Absolutely beautiful! Wonderful, well-maintained trails. Interesting to learn and see ruins from ice industry in the early 1900's. We did not go into the museum where there was a charge.

Beth D — Google review

Awesome conservation center. Came in on a saturday afternoon. The museum is full of historical information and cool life size taxidermy diorama scenes. Lots of informative/educative displays. Well worth the $6 admission fee to help support animal and land conservation. Plenty of trails and areas to walk/explore.

Jay M — Google review

Loved the mini museum lots of taxidermy animals & kids can get list of animals to scavenger hunt. My kid loved it & I thought it was awesome how all animals were native to ct and they made displays of animals in habitats. Outside grounds are beautiful and have rescued owl in a large cage. They have 2 cages for rescued large birds but only 1 was occupied when came this time. Price to go in museum was reasonable too.

Always a great day when we go to Quassy. The updated water park is awesome and super kid friendly. Love the boat ride around the lake and the views of the mansions! The rides are great too. Arcade is good size and food is good but expensive. Such a fun place to spend the day.

ALWAYS A GREAT TIME. Bring the kids, and take a boat ride, or the paddle boats on the Lake. All the ride's are AWESOME. Bring snacks and drinks...or just buy them..The 3D fireworks were Spectacular..

Carol B — Google review

I brought my 3 year old daughter here now that she broke the 36" mark. She had 3 hours of wonderful fun and rode everything she could. This place is an amazing beginner amusem*nt park. The ride waits were under 5 minutes and typically had none at all.

Mitchel M — Google review

Quasst has done an excellent job staying family-friendly and affordable. There is a wide assortment of children's rides, a handful of adult rides, a fun arcade, and affordable food options that can be eaten with a beautiful view of the lake. It's definitely a great place to spend a summer day!

Ataribowling C — Google review

$25 dollar fee to ride very affordable for every family. Many small ride for the kids with tiny amount of wait. Loved it. Summer started well. Did all rides more than three time. Much better than other new park in upstate New York with $90 entry price for all member just to enter.

Hiten B — Google review

Great experience with family. Shout-out to Donna (the manager on the premises) for being so accommodating, patient, nice and kind to all patrons on a busy 4th of July.Thank you.

Taimoor Q — Google review

One of the most organised Anusem*nt and Water park I have ever been to. The place is not that large in size but they have installed the rides very nicely and each of them are amazing. Much recommended for everyone to visit especially in summers because they have a little beach as well ;)Fun to go with friends or family, you'll definitely enjoy a lot.

Sarthak S — Google review

Small but just big enough to have fun, not too much Walking, good size ride for old and young, grown up boat ride and train.

What a lovely and a cute little park!! If you are looking for a fun and short activity, this is the right place. I loved the water park as all slides were different and fun. There is only one wooden roller coaster and other small rides for kids. And the lovely view by the lake makes the place even more beautiful. I would definitely be here again !!

Shamna M — Google review

It was a great time! We love the train with the tunnel. The rides were lots of fun! The water park area was nice and relatively clean. It's a nice quaint place to go.

Such a fun Family amusem*nt park! Totally enjoy everything they have to offer. Food is a bit over priced. You are allowed to bring your own. I strongly encourage you do so!

Lane S — Google review

We attended a birthday party at the park and it was AWESOME! The pavilion was spacious, covered and overlooked the Lake! The employees, especially Kim, were helpful and courteous! The park was exceptionally clean and lines were quick getting on rides!

Theresa R — Google review

Yes, I'm giving it 5 stars. Reality says it shouldn't- as only a pint sized 6 flags, the food is overpriced, the bathrooms are not cleaned enough. But for younger kids this old fashioned and quaint park did amuse my family for half a day. They have some exciting tubing slides and wonderfully creative splash tower including many filled buckets to douse persons below and working water cannons, etc. I forget the name of the knockout roller coaster because for good reason no cell phones are allowed on the ride and I forgot to take a picture) that defies gravity; the rickety metal track clanged so hard I thought we'd be the ones that finally broke off the guard threatening our lives(but is too short a ride). There is also the "Frantic" which spins and turns you upside down. We are next to one of the food establishments and sat on some of the many stools with a majestic serene view of the lake. For an extra charge they allow paddle boats of two to four passengers. Outside food is permitted and Quassy serves alcohol. Definitely parents can have fun here. I think the place is right-sized and doesn't feel missing per se compared to the sprawling Lake Compounce. For the youngest patrons, they will find themselves occupied in awe. It is just the older teenagers that might find the place wanting for more. So highly recommended for parents and their children between 36 inches and 13 years old. PS- I think they also had a magic show but we missed it. Also, the picture I have of the roller coaster is called "Little Dipper" and is NOT the hair raising one I described above.

Michael D — Google review

This was our first time at Quassy and it was a lot of fun! The park is smaller but I think it's good for children especially due to that! The pricing is very reasonable, and there's a lot to do for everyone!

Nina R — Google review

Loved it liked it but the prices were steep for if I'm not swimming but there watching I still had to pay for Waterpark! Idk. But my son had loads of fun and that's all that mattered!!

Jane M — Google review

I love this amusem*nt park. I come every summer when I visit my family. It is so cute and family-friendly. The Price is Right, and the lines are never too long. The staff is friendly, and the park is clean. I would say this is a must-have stop for any family.

Amazing place for young kids! It’s clean , not crowded & very easily accessible. You can always walk back to your car. The lake is beautiful & warm. The water park has about 8 rides plus a giant “saturation station“ where there is a giant bucket that dumps on everybody every few minutes. There’s lots of both water and dry rides for young babies and the arcade machines pay out plenty of tickets. In all, a beautiful place to spend the day with family. I’d say this park is best for families with kids under 15, but I did see many young couples enjoying the park as well. This is not the place to go if you’re looking for an adrenaline rush.

Decent size place. Not to big where it’s overwhelming. It’s best if you get here earlier. Because after I believe 4pm it’s half price admission and that’s when it really picks up foot traffic. Went here as a kid and it’s exactly the same. Love that that kept the place the same. Bathrooms are maintained throughout the entire day. Which is nice to see. Admission costs are honestly decent. It includes the water park. But if you want to do the boats it’s an additional fee not included. They provide safety vests. They offer some kind of show maybe comedy?! Not sure we didn’t stick around to watch it. The roller coaster line was insanely long. I suggest if you want to go there make that your first stop upon arrival otherwise you’ll end up like us going to late and line was to ridiculously long so no one in our group wanted to wait for the ride. Was a major bummer unfortunately! Parking is $10.00. They keep a tight parking lot. Staff constantly walking around keeping tabs on everyone’s cars and guests. It was nice to see how vigilant they are and on top of things. Would we return .. yes we would. When you leave don’t forget to ring the bell to let the staff know there doing an excellent job and you had a great time.

We went for the first time this weekend and I cannot speak highly enough about the staff and their professionalism and kindness! The park itself is a perfect size for small kids and the water slides were SO FUN. We got there early and there were zero lines until about 3-4 pm when it got slightly more crowded, but still manageable. This place is a breath of fresh air compared to Rye Playland, which is absurdly crowded and the staff don’t seem to care. Quassy is family-operated and it shows. We will be back for sure!

The rides are great for little kids up to age 6-7 , the waterpark is good for the older ones …food is incredibly expensive

Although it was a Sunday the queue was not long, it is smaller than other amusem*nt parks but if you buy the 41.99 combo it is definitely a very good price to enjoy the water park and also the mechanical games. If you go to the lake you have to always be watching that people don't take your chairs because if they see one without a bag or towel on top they definitely take it. It's the first time we've visited, so now we know it's better to bring chairs that you have at home, so you won't have to worry. The food is a little more expensive than I thought but we did not spend much since we brought food from home, also water (coolers are allowed). Pets are allowed but they are completely your responsibility (did not saw any). Workers are really nice and patient.

Vanitti R — Google review

Classic old school amusem*nt park. Needs more bathrooms. Only 3 women's stalls in water park! Little to no lines for dry rides even on a Sunday. Tube water slides had 15 minute or less lines. Good variety of rides. Older kids were entertained. Admission is high $41 combo wristband. Save money by brining your own food and drinks. Brown sandy lakefront with lifeguards. Parking is $10.

Was great. Brought our 5-year-old was the first time I have been there in over 30 years. My wife brought him a month earlier. However I wish They had not shut down the coolest water slide in the park. With the 90° weather we've been having all summer, I would definitely get a season pass next year . For us it's only a 20 minute ride. So it's really close and great for those summer days. Even though we live on a lake, it's fun to change it up. Plenty of water slides and fun for all. Ages five and up. Definitely get to have a blast. They're very strict on their height requirements so make sure your son or daughter meets the requirements and read or Call them to make sure you know what water slides they can go down. They do have water slides for all ages and a really cool splash pad that squirts water out everywhere.loved it

This place was awesome! I was visiting for a family reunion and needed something to do with my 4 year old. We thought this would be a little place to spend a couple of hours. Instead, we were there over 3 hours and we still didn't get to do everything. My son loved the rides and the water park. There was even a little beach that was perfect for young kids since it's shallow. This is a fantastic place for families. I could have even brought my 1 year old since there's a little splash area. Really great place!

Bobbie H — Google review

My kids are 9, and still enjoy the waterpark area and most of the rides!!! Not as large a selection of rides as Lake Compounce, but still a big enough amusem*nt park for my kids to enjoy themselves and have fun. Food is a little overpriced (most options between $13-14 for a small basket of food) and drinks should be included in the season passes in my opinion, as a small narrowing sized cup was $9, and refills cost $2.50 when a cup of the "Jumbo" size drink was $7.50. Feed your kids before you come, or have food in a cooler at the car as you can re-enter as long as you're stamped or wearing a wristband/pass for the day re-entry, and you'll have more for spending on games or other fun.

Had a company outing there. Food pretty good ( hotdogs, cheese burgers, Mac & cheese ), very good Buffalo wings and ribs. Rides are basically for 6 - 10 year-olds. Water park is pretty nice, and slides with tubing ( was very busy on sunny hot day).Parking organized with guides

My family and I love driving onto the beach here. Can’t comment on anything else there but the 4x4 crowd is very friendly.

Smith Point County Park is a wonderful place to stay. The beach is breath taking and peaceful. The staff were great and helpful. We even had one of the deer on the island come to our campsite.

MLLJ — Google review

The beach this year is quite smaller from what I remember in comparison to my previous trips. All in all, what's not to love- sandy shores, waves, and the ocean breeze to keep you feeling light and breezy! From the food at the consession stand, to the playground, and the trails that'll definitely get your 10,000 steps in, there's something to do for everyone!

How is it that I've been going to the beach on Long Island for nearly 6 full decades and I didn't know about this beach? It's beautiful!.. and easily accessible and best of all it's dog friendly.

Eric S — Google review

Our family loves this beach. We spend all day here in the summer and also like to come on off season days. The lifeguards are quite diligent and they’re never rude. They are super helpful when you have questions about the water or where you can board or surf, etc. They have a great crew that cleans up the beach when lazy people leave their pigsty. It would be nice if they had a bathroom crew check in a few times a day to keep it more safe from all the water and clean the floors since mostly everyone is barefoot but it’s not terrible. Concession choices are tremendous and quite reasonable compared to other places. The sand is beautiful to walk in. We love it.

Tabitha E — Google review

A nice local beach that is frequented by a lot of kids so be prepared. Loud music and crowded beach blankets. But there are restrooms and concessions. Drinks and food from Tiki Joe's and live music here and there. Get a green key pass and $15 bucks turns into $9 to get in during the season between Memorial and Labor days. A great TWA flight 800 memorial walk through is there as well. A must see!So we went back today. It took a half hour to get over bridge and in the beach. Why? Because it cost $18 without a green key card and $9 with the card....why not $5, $10,$15 or ezpass? I mean, it's 2024. They're breaking bills, that's why! So dumb. Who designs this. There are three gate houses to pay but the third lane is unseen until 30 feet in front of it. Guys, get it together. Think about how much money you're losing by people not getting into the beach and buying food or turning around and leaving before paying. Fix it.

Barsnobs — Google review

This park has a very big parking lot. As soon as you enter the parking lot, you have a bunch of deer welcoming you in the anticipation of fruits. These white-tailed deer in this park are the most friendly that I have seen in the Long Island. They eat directly from people's hand and follow you like pet animals. They are not afraid, and they circle around your car for food. I have seen them eating carrots, baby tomatoes, and apples from the visitors. There are signs in the park indicating not to feed deer, and people are totally opposite. Bathrooms are not open during the offseason. I also saw off-roading outer beach access, but I didn't take a chance to drive to the beach. One tow truck waits by the entrance of the Burma road in case someone gets stuck on the beach. On the Burma road if you decide to drive to the beach with the permit then sign indicates tire pressure(10 to 20 PSI) recommended for the off-roading and when you come back, you can inflate your tire pressure back to recommended pressure. I would say this park needs a little bit of TLC to draw more satisfying visitors, and that can help the local community during the off-season and peak season. I wish beach access is available for AWD drive vehicles as well since not everyone has a 4x4 vehicle.Note: Please don't leave food for deers in styrofoam cup. Today, one deer ended up with a styrofoam cup stuck on the face. Many people tried to help the deer but couldn't lured deer closer to take out cup from face. Deer was afraid and panicked and stopped trusting any human around her. I hope deer somehow managed to free from cup. This park is the home of TWA Flight 800 Memorial to honor those who were aboard the plane - 230 people from 14 countries - all of them were killed. The families of TWA Flight 800 Association raised the funds for the memorial.

I was at Smith Point Beach on 3/18/2023 to fly my drone in the parking lot. The attached video and pics are from that day. In the summer time I love this beach, they’ve spent some money making improvements, adding a beach bar/restaurant, and you can also visit the TWA Flight 800 memorial which is there too. Highly recommend.

Loved this beach! Doesn’t get too crowded like Robert Moses or Jones Beach. This might be because only Suffolk county residents are allowed. The place is neat and clean, not too rocky. Definitely worth the visit on a beautiful day! They do have a food place there but they a bit overpriced for the taste. The only thing I enjoyed was the ice cream which they only had a limited amount of flavors to choose from but it wasn’t too bad. Overall the beach is beautiful.

Yeamen A — Google review

Beautiful beach with well-sized waves for having fun with the whole family. You can only swim in a restricted area but it was large enough when we were there (Mon-Tue-Wed, beg. of August). Fine sand, fresh and clean water, some food offers (lobster roll is recommended!). We came after 5:30 p.m. when parking is for free (18$ during daytime) to enjoy the evening sunlight.

This place is the gem of Long Island. Where else can you have the bay and the ocean within moments of each other. There is a large and beautiful beach at the ocean. Across the parking lot there is a bay where lots of people are driving their boats and fishing. There is a wildlife/nature museum up in the observation tower that is currently closed. You can climb up to the observation tower and see beautiful scenery for miles. There are paths both paved and unpaved that lead you on a beautiful scenic walk.

If you do not have a boat or time to take the Ferry this is the park to go to. I learned how to swim in the ocean here. Usually very strong rip currents. Swim by the Life Guard stands. I went the weekend before Memorial Day weekend. Free parking. After the Holiday parking is probably $18. (Nonresident)Worth it if you plan to spend the day. On the bay side there is a place to rent paddle boards and kayaks.

Susan S — Google review

My experience there is always good but I'm a person that does not like to be around many people so if you are like me the best times to go there are early morning during the week and weekends. I cannot tell you about their bands that play there I think I went one time and it was nice but like I said I don't like to be around a lot of people if you don't want to pay go after 6:00 p.m. during season time. One thing I could say this is the place to go for beautiful sunrises and sunsets. I always can grab my beach chair and find a secluded little area by myself which I'm very grateful that I can find.

39th Consecutive year of my favorite Christmas tradition: Cutting our tree, listening to Bob Dylan's album, New Morning on the drive there and back, and having hot cider and cookies by the gazebo. This tradition via Jones Tree Farm provides annual nourishment to my soul.

Raymond H — Google review

It’s a great place but definitely wish it had some bbq or something, we get hungry every time we come! Would be a great way for the farm to make even more money as well. Every year we get lost also since the winery is a whole different place than the pumpkin farm.

Marta P — Google review

Every year I go to the farm to pick strawberries, I like their organization the most. Everything is very simple and clear. Stuff are very friendly. Strawberries are the best in my opinion. A good place to spend time with kids, eat strawberries, lie down on the grass, buy local wine which is very tasty, and admire the beautiful views of the farm.

Polina M — Google review

Had an amazing time here, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. During my visit mid-June, the strawberries were small to medium-sized — much smaller than what you’d find in the grocery store — but they were sweet and delicious. There were also water dispensers out in the field in case you get thirsty.I loved the vanilla scones from their snack / wine stand which were dense, buttery, and moist, almost like a blondie. Wish I purchased more!Though the strawberries were not cheap at $11 per small basket, the experience was worth it for a fun outdoor activity with family and friends.

We went for strawberry picking. Strawberries are fresh and sweet. Kids can’t wait to eat it! The field is huge and well organized. All staff are friendly and helpful. My family love to stay here and will definitely come back!

Today I went to jones family farms with mom & 6 month old son. when i arrived I was handed this card & informed me that there was a $10 entry fee when booked online , so we did. as stated on the card you get a $5 credit towards a pumpkin for EACH entry purchase. it was when we were purchasing the pumpkin they informed us that it was only $5 credit for every $10 you spend. no where does it state that it was $5 off of every $10 . I would’ve have picked differently if i had known that bit of information. I wish they stated it before entry or even once you buy the tickets.the farm should disclose that before time for purchase , definitely feels like they are intentionally leaving that bit of information out to trick you at the very last moment. anything to make any petty change.

My mother, coworker, and I went to the Jones Farm Winery to do wine tasting, and let me tell you. It was beautiful with live music and the weather couldn't be more perfect. Al was explaining each wine so calmly, and he was very nice to us. I will definitely come back.

Yary R — Google review

The idea of cutting down a Christmas tree may seem like an arduous task to some, but having come here for the first time, I don't think I can ever just "buy" a tree off a lot ever again.First things first, you will need a reservation as there are hundreds of thousands of trees to choose from but there are also thousands of families who come here, so make a plan. This farm is also enormous so once you have decided you are coming, prepare yourself for a wonderful day in the outdoors. Think, waterproof boots, hats, gloves, etc.I arrived the day after Thanksgiving which is the earliest I have ever purchased a tree but I was assured by the staff that provided I cut the base again when I got home and kept it watered, it would last till Christmas. With dozens of fields, each field has different types of trees to offer. The staff are super helpful and can help you choose where to go to find the perfect tree based on type of tree and even height. You will have to walk the property so, again, plan accordingly. If you forgot a saw or don't own one, don't worry, they will lend you one. Just, don't bring a chainsaw, they are not allowed.Tip: if you bring an old plastic tarp, it makes it easier to drop your cut tree onto the tarp and drag it across the grass to your car, sparing you from having to carry it. Number one fastest route to a family argument is over having to carry a tree that one person is sure is too big.If you are coming with a young family make sure everyone is... involved, well-rested, hydrated, and fed. Many people bring dogs (we had one with us) but short of peeing on someone else's tree they are rarely of much assistance and someone will need to walk them which means they are not helping carry the tree.Lastly, there is also a huge barn area with cut trees, wreaths, snacks, bathrooms, and activities, so it's easy to make a day of it or just cut to the chase

Great winery! They have something for everyone. Emily was out hostess for thr tasting and was very knowledgeable. Will definitely be back!!!

Jones has become a dual seasonal tradition for us--strawberries in June and Christmas tree in December. Both events are very well organized and staffed. The Christmas tree experience is especially well done. You have multiple options to suit your preferences. You can cut your own and the two fields are massive. Or you can go precut, where the trees are arranged by size and five different varieties, which have their own distinct features which are also well explained with helpful signage. So you can get very specific and find a tree that suits your individual needs. (We go with the Fraser fir because it's a more conical and narrower tree that fits the small space in our living room and it can support heavy ornaments.) Plus there's a huge wreath store and the winery is packed with things too. Our annual visit is the perfect way to start the holiday season. The only thing I wish is that we could see the farm under a blanket of snow. It hasn't happened on any of our visits yet, but maybe someday.

K.C. K — Google review

Wonderful place! The berries are DELICIOUS. It was 12.50 for each basket as we got 3, and there seems to be an end of season discount! Super kind staff. Loved it. Sad the strawberry season is ending but glad I got to the mouth watering berries before it did. Go before it ends!

I went a month ago with my 6 years old daughter and my teenage son with a friend. This was a beautiful farm, very well organized, colorful, with pumpkins, sunflowers, corn maze, and different places where to take pictures. Big and beautiful, and not expensive at all. We bought a pumpkin and the cost of the ticket was taken away from the cost of the pumpkin. The only thing I won’t do again was the hayride. We will go there again!A full 5 stars!!

We came here for strawberry picking and had a great time. There were lots of good berries to be picked and it was a very organized operation. We also went to the tasting room down the road at their winery and could not recommend it more! We love wine tasting and enjoyed a really personalized guided tasting experience. There were lots of cute places to sit and walk around as well.

Jones is a great farm to pick your own fruit, pumpkins and Christmas trees. It’s one of our traditions, you can tell they genuinely care about the land and everything they grow as well as their customers. Everyone is always happy and friendly while greeting, providing direction/instructions or lending a hand. Just a tip to make reservations as it is always a little less costly. Making reservations makes the Xmas tree cost 105 + tax = 111 as opposed to showing up without a reservation which will be $127 total. If you don’t have a reservation, you may be given a slip with a qr code enabling you to make a reservation last minute if there’s any available at the time and you’ll be able to get the lower price when you drive out so I recommend doing that as it was unclear from the slip so I didn’t end up doing it and paid the higher price. Worth 5 minutes to save $16. The gift shop is open with Xmas items and the barn has wreaths and such for sale in the yard along with pre cut trees. The kitchen window has hot and cold apple cider and cookies for purchase.

It's very easy to find a good tree.Very well organized operation. The whole family looks forward to getting a tree there every year. The village is a nice place to stop on your way out to get a hot chocolate or a new ornament.Go early to avoid the crowds!

I had such a great time with my mother for Mothers Day at the winery. The staff was so friendly . Food was great, pesto salad on point, frittatas great, and hummus. My mom loved the scones. Thank you Chef Toni. Anne Marie I believe her name was at the wine tasting was so educational in her explanations of the wines and such a nice person to talk to. This place has it all. Wine (great), trees (great selection), friendly staff and delicious food. This was our first year cutting down a tree for our new home, and I had a few local residents recommend this place. I’m so happy they did, because we had a great time today and brought home the most beautiful tree. The whole operation is also extremely organized - it’s crowded but we never had to wait.

We come here yearly to get our Christmas tree and have snacks and wine tasting. We decided to give blueberry picking a try this year as well. Very fun!We recently joined the Wine Club - I truly enjoyed the experience!!Back for year 2 of Wine Club, it's such a great time and I enjoy meeting with the folks. The Jones Family is great & we love coming in all seasons!

We recently went blueberry picking, and although the weather was nice, it was still very hot. Each group was assigned to a specific section of bushes, and we were not allowed to walk around and pick freely from other bushes. We were hoping for a fun family outing, but instead, we were assigned to the very end of the rows with our two young children. We couldn’t leave until we finished picking, which made the experience feel like unpaid labor. Unfortunately, this is not what we expected—you didn't hear kids laughing but crying. We will not be returning.

On Saturday, December 2, 2023, I took my two granddaughters to our yearly holiday show. We saw Holiday Spectacular on Ice. Although I'll admit the fact that Nancy Kerrigan was going to be in the show was my initial enticement, after seeing the show, I was amazed at the entire production of actors, singers and of course the skaters. I felt as if I was attending a New York City Broadway or Off Broadway show. The talent of the entire cast was beyond awesome. My granddaughters, aged 13 and 5, were mesmerized. I would recommend anyone, of any age, to go see this show. Gateway at its finest.

Zoos & Aquariums

Non-profit organization

Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo is a long-established zoo featuring hundreds of animals predominantly from North and South America. Its indoor South American rainforest exhibit is particularly impressive, showcasing multiple species. The zoo's accessible design accommodates visitors with disabilities or sensory sensitivities. Despite its age of 99 years old, the grounds are well-maintained and adorned with picturesque flowers. A loop around the zoo takes approximately an hour to complete, making for an enjoyable outing for all.

Great zoo. They have an amazing range of animals. The park is super clean and the staff is super friendly and helpful. You must check out the peaco*ck Cafe. The chef takes pride in the food that is served. He bakes his own cookies and muffins. He also makes the chicken tenders and to boot he makes sure every table is clean.

Our first time here and it was amazing! Awesome animals, super easy to navigate, really nice viewing spots, super clean and taken care of! Really great greenhouse too! Just pack your own food though, the food is okay but a little pricy!

Brose W — Google review

This is a cute zoo! My family started at the Maritime Aquarium in the morning and finished with the zoo in the afternoon. It’s very nice for being 99 years old. It’s also a very accessible zoo, for wheelchair users or for people who need quiet spaces! It took about an hour to do the whole loop and see everything, but it was very pleasant. It’s very well kept and all the flowers are beautiful.

Lauren S — Google review

Hubs and I had a great time! Spent close to 6 hours walking around viewing all of the animals. We loved the Prairie Dogs, Maned Wolf and Tiger to name a few. Not as busy as anticipated with most at the beach today. The lady running the gift shop was a hoot. For those not looking to pay admission to the zoo, Beardsley Park is right near by, super clean, option to picnic or just get some walking in.

Liz — Google review

Nice zoo not too large with a good variety of endangered species. Came in early April and it seemed like some of the facilities were still closed and some of the exhibitions were slightly underwhelming. Also, they encourage you to buy tickets online but no one checks them and seems like you can just walk in for free. Lunch at the Peaco*ck cafe was good but no hot drinks except for tea which was upsetting on a rainy day. The outdoor play area for kids is lovely and overall, had a good experience. Would probably visit again at some point but during the summer.

Unoriginal P — Google review

Definitely on a weekday. Like the animals, the staff doesn't seem stressed out by having too many people around. We got there just before noon and there was lots of animal caretaking going on so that was really nice to see the interaction between the handlers and animals. There were a few closures for some updating and weather. Hoping that's done soon because spring is in the air.

Richard Q — Google review

Came here with my grandparents. Both were in wheelchairs. Got around pretty good despite the steep hills. Wish the indoor facilities had wheelchair accessible buttons to open the door. Staff was very nice and helpful. My grandparents had a great time. We even got to rent a wheelchair for free (grandpa got tired)

Molly L — Google review

Great exhibits and some amazing animals. I was impressed with the overall cleanliness of the zoo grounds. The man with the animal pelts was a hit with the kids. He had many tidbits of knowledge that they loved and even a few jokes that had them laughing. More than ample parking very close to the entrance. Good friendly service at the Cafe and the ladies running the gift shop were a riot! A+

Rich F — Google review

Fun summer weekday trip! There were educational staff/interns at several exhibits which allowed for asking questions and getting to know a bit more about the animals on an individual level. Lots of fun stuff for younger children- places to see how big they are in comparison to birds of prey, various types of bears, etc. And it’s not so big that kids can’t walk around by themselves. We were able to catch the 11am show on sustainability which went over my five-year olds head but when they brought out a live snake, he was pretty excited. A few of the animal exhibits are empty right now.

Krista C — Google review

Beautiful zoo! Restrooms were clean. All staff had Amazing customer service. They were all very helpful and knowledgeable. Animals kept in very clean and maintained conditions. They prefer tickets to be purchased online but do have sales at the door when I visited. They do have a gift shop.

Shalaney C — Google review

A great zoo. Sadly I have to give it 4 stars and not five for two reasons. Firstly it is impossible to book a ticket online if you do not live in the USA. Believe me I tried and it was highly frustrating. Luckily you can buy at the door and the staff there were very understanding about my issue and were fantastic but the website issue does need to be resolved for international visitors otherwise they may end up putting people off. My second reason for only putting 4 stars is the zoo appears to be a bit under development at this time so not all exhibits were on and as I've recently been to another zoo nearby I have to compare with the same to provide a honest review. However it I'd would also like to state that the same is still worth a visit if you are in the area and the animals that we did see were fantastic. The red pandas are big show offs and u think its worth going just to see them two. The zoo is undertaking improvements and with lots of visitors will only go from strength to strength over time so please do visit the same if your in the area to support them in the same.

James J — Google review

This zoo isn't the biggest but it's definitely worth the trip. If you live around the area, it's probably a place you'll take the kids more than once. We've gone quite a few times as a family of animal lovers and never leave disappointed. While it tends to get crowded at warmer months, there are still awesome experiences you can really only see when it starts to get cooler. Love exploring this place with my family!

Veronica G — Google review

The park is great and the zoo is wonderful for your family to visit. There are more events now than before. Recently, we attended the light festival. Fantastic display of animals made out of lanterns and lights.

Khmei K — Google review

I love this zoo. I've been going here since I was a kid. I have a 2 yr old. This is his second time here. He loves to it. It's a great place to let your child run around, explore, and get some energy out.

Liana M — Google review

The zoo's exhibits are spaced out which made for an enjoyable walk. There is an indoor carousel which is $2 per ride and a cafe where you can get drinks and food. There is an outdoor picnic table area and a small playground too. There is also a greenhouse which was nice to explore.

L D — Google review

Took my wife and son here for Mother’s Day, had a great time. Good zoo only reason for four stars instead of 5 is we thought it would have had been a little larger, but for the size it had a good selection of animals. All the staff we came across were pleasant and helpful. Definitely worth a trip if you’re local.

Justin R — Google review

Beautiful little zoo. We were in the area and decided to stop by with our 2 year old. It was raining, but we decided to go anyway. Too bad they didn't sell rain poncho or umbrella in the store. But after the rain past it was nice walk and great experience

Iryna G — Google review

Great weekend experience visiting the zoo! Amazing customer service, clean restrooms.Animals (That includes Amur Tiger, Leopard , Black Panther, Bison, Black Bear, Anteaters, Wolves, Fox, Rainforest and various bird species) kept in very clean and maintained conditions. They have different shows running in the Peaco*ck Pavilion and Barn area. We saw the Aviary show which was very engaging and informative.Would recommend to get the tickets online ahead of the trip, however do have sales at the door. Don't miss out on the gift shop on your way to grab a cool 100 year anniversary souvenir!!!

Shashank D — Google review

I had an incredible day at Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo with Krystal Life by the Billings and her adorably cool boys! We shared laughter, deep conversations, and even tried communicating with the animals (some gave us soul-staring responses!). Every moment of our adventure was filled with joy and wonder. It's a memory I'll cherish forever. Highly recommend this zoo for a fun-filled day out with loved ones!Marisa Balletti-Lavoie

Marisa B — Google review

This is such a wonderful zoo especially if you have small children. It takes about 2hrs to see everything with exhibits lining the paths so the kids can easily go from one to another. The carousel is $2/person and such a hit with the littles. There's a small playground within the zoo if you need a break and larger parks in the nearby area if you wanted to continue your day out after your visit.

R F — Google review

Went to "glow crazy" and it was super cool! Little expensive but still worth it! Would love to go again if they have other light displays. Fun place for a date!

Jonathan B — Google review

Really cool zoo! Good assortment of animals, especially for the Northeast. Most of the animals were out and active. I can't wait for the spring

Adam H — Google review

I love this zoo! It's small, and it's great for taking things slow and really getting to spend time watching the animals at each exhibit; there's no rush to make it to each exhibit!

Ferries

The Bridgeport & Port Jefferson Steamboat Company offers a convenient ferry service between Connecticut and the North Shore of Long Island. The hour-and-15-minute ride provides a pleasant experience with good boat and crew. While the interior could use some improvement, there are various food options and a nice bar on board. The ferry also boasts beautiful views, ample walking space, and decent bathrooms. However, some passengers advise against eating the food due to quality concerns.

Always on time and crew is very polite friendly and knowledgeable. Enjoy my commute to work every day. Bathrooms always clean. Totally enjoyable and relaxing.

Teresa S — Google review

Nice to ride in the summertime. Some of the other reviews by frequent ferry goers have a good perspective. I don’t always have the best experience on the ferry, and some of the evening staff are rude. But, for better or worse that hasn’t stopped me from using it. Sunset and sunrise rides are especially enjoyable.

Shayla M — Google review

I have been taking the ferry from Port Jefferson to Bridgeport for a year now, and it continues to impress me with its consistent quality and service. Every trip has been smooth and reliable, making my travels convenient and stress-free.What truly stands out is the friendliness of the staff. Over the past year, I've consistently experienced warm smiles and helpful attitudes from the crew, making every journey pleasant. Their dedication to excellent customer service is evident, and it always makes me feel welcome. And let's not forget the fries on deck! They are a delightful treat that I look forward to every time. Perfectly crispy and seasoned just right, they add an extra touch of enjoyment to the trip, whether I'm enjoying the views or simply relaxing on board. After a year of regular travel, I can confidently say that this ferry service is exceptional. With great service, delicious food, and a consistently pleasant experience, it's the best way to travel between Port Jefferson and Bridgeport. Highly recommended!

Abayaa D — Google review

Had a beautiful, sunny day for a ride across the sound. $33.00 for round-trip. Not a bad price, at all. Also, when you park in their lot, they have a shuttle that takes you to the boat and will take you back to the car when you come back - free of charge. We only went about a block & a half, but we did tip. It is, after all, a free service and everyone is working for a living.

Diana W — Google review

If you want to save time getting from long island to CT. The Bridgeport ferry can't be beat. Easy, efficient loading. Drive right on with your vehicle or walk on. The ferry has been running for many years. The 12 or so miles over the water can cut hours of your drive to CT. VT. Maine, etc.

Douglas K — Google review

Without a doubt the worst ferry experience I have ever had. First of all the ferry was 45 minutes late. No announcement. No explanation and certainly no apology. Then they let all the foot traffic on first. By the time you get on the boat all of the booths are gone. In some cases one person and their stuff taking up 6 seats. People lying down. Staff does nothing. Also we told the staff we didn't want to park on the ramp because we had a small child and there were plenty of spots straight ahead. Of course that was ignored as well. With no free wifi on the ferry it was a miserable time crossing. The next time the Orient Point ferry is not available we will just drive around. The bridges and I-95 are preferable to this garbage.

Eric S — Google review

We went on the 730 ferry and had breakfast. It was very clean, the staff were very nice.. Then we got back on the 2 o'clock Ferry had some lunch and drinks, also great

Jess W — Google review

Just went because we've actually never been there in the many years we had lived on Long Island. It was very pleasant but it appeared to be more a transportation hub to get to Connecticut or if you had your own boat it would be great. There is a hotel right next to the dock with a great view but I didn't see a beach nearby. There may be one close but I didn't see it. Very pretty area

RGNorris P — Google review

Great alternative to driving back and forth to Long Island. The ferry provides a relaxing one hour ride across the sound. It has a co*cktail bar, food and snacks.

Javier E — Google review

We didn't want to drive to get to CT, so we took the ferry. Very easy on and off. It's an hour ride versus 2.5 driving.

Matt S — Google review

Good, we always board the ferry every year. But on the summer of 2022, 07/19, the was a heat wave in some of the eastern states. The ferries we boarded were P.T.Barnum and Grand Republic. The ride to CT was okay, the usual. But on the way back to LI, we were drenched in sweat. The only shady spot was at the back of the ferry. And due to the Grand Republic having a broken elevator, it was neutral. Today the Grand Republic's elevator works again to make experiences a bit better. Good company service and ferries not that worn out. But the bad thing is, one vehicle ticket to board the ferry for us cost $100 for one experience. This review was from July 2022 but posted January 2023.

Jayden P — Google review

We love the ferry we ride it just for the fun of it. We buy one way tickets go to Bridgeport and come right back on the same one. The kids enjoy going to the snack/ food shop and we get a drink at the bar. We usually stay on top but if you don’t like the sun or get chilly you can always go inside. It does have ac.The bathroom was clean. The ferry is well kept and clean. It was about 1hr 10 mins each way.

Mel S — Google review

Easy to purchase tickets and making appts on their app. The crew provides assistance parking your cars, this isn't a valet service, simply helping you navigate. Don't think too much there 😀. The staff is available for questions keeps tje ship tidy!

Dawn C — Google review

Friendly staff, I was confused about how to get in the line with my car but the guy that helped me was very kind. Beautiful trip, clean, inside had great ac. They price based off occupancy(and probably car size)

Emily T — Google review

Agree with other comments that says - ferry is ferry. It’s convenient, but expensive. Food selection is not great and expensive, but there is food. Everything fast and really well organized. Expensive though. Nice views.I don’t think it’s always a most convenient option, but if it is - very enjoyable activity.

Nadya M — Google review

Great way to avoid bridge traffic to points north, scenic, peaceful 1.25 hour ride. During business seasons best to reserve on line, only complaint is that they are a bit pricey

D W — Google review

If you live at the end of Long Island, it's a great idea to get to Connecticut quickly. But if you are not, it's not a great idea to take the ferry just for tourist purposes, especially without a car. They have a cafe but food needs to be better

Galyna S — Google review

Today was very unusual. I've ridden the ferry many times, but this morning's 10:30 ferry from Bridgeport to Port Jefferson was an absolute upset.. I mean this by way of cleanliness. It was disgusting. The food counter was disgusting on the outside on the inside.. The ladies room was absolutely disgusting. It's the dirtiest I've ever seen the ferry and I'm hoping since I didn't realize all this when I sat down and ordered a sandwich at the bar that I don't get sick. I never put reviews out there like this but there's got to be a problem. Maybe no staff but for $75 for one way and for it to be that dirty. I feel like I need a refund but I know I'm not going to get that so maybe this will help some management person somewhere go back and say what the hell happened when I was talking. I must have had 15 people agree with me and say oh my God I've never seen it like this

Kelly B — Google review

They made it easy on and off. Smooth trip. Markings aren't great coming to Pt. Jefferson from the west. Had to go around the block to get into the lot for the ferry.

Janet H — Google review

Nice alternative to rush hour traffic.Pleasant way to spend commuting time.Staff was professional & helpful...

Ronald H — Google review

Great ride there and back. It was nice to take a break from traffic. They were punctual which was nice. It is best to order your tickets online prior. The bathrooms were clean, too! Will use them again!

June S — Google review

Sheryl in your customer service reservations department is beyond amazing. I am going through chemo and completely forgot to buy my ferry ticket in advance to get to my daughter’s graduation. Online wouldn’t let me order so close to departure but I called and she let me know to keep driving because there was room on the ferry. She was my calm during what felt like a huge storm for me that day. Thank you Sheryl.

Alexandra S — Google review

It’s a ferry. Convenient but pricey. Food is ok but expensive. Staff is friendly. Love the ride across the sound and grateful to not have to drive through the city!

Bird 1 — Google review

We had a great trip in both directions. Great crew who enjoyed explaining different things on the ship to my younger cousin. Will definitely do this again

Mary Y — Google review

Love the beautiful view. Plenty of space to walk around. The bathrooms are good. My only complaint is that the oil they use to fry things is not changed frequently. I got sick just eating one of their fries. Foods are overcharged and mediocre at best. Well I guess they have to make money somehow. I highly recommend that you don't eat food from there if you have a sensitive stomach.

Saimon L — Google review

Good boat and crew. Always do their best to get you on even when you're on standby. Interior of the ship could use a little work (patron areas), but enough hot/cold food options to hold you over for the hour trip. Also has a nice little bar on the ship if you want to grab a drink while traveling. Prices have gone up over the years, but we attribute that to gas prices and inflation, not the boat company - what can you do.

Paul M — Google review

Fire Island National Seashore is a stunning coastal national park that boasts an array of plant and animal life. Located on a long, thin barrier island between William Floyd Estate and Robert Moses State Park, it was established in 1964 to preserve the island's bird habitats, forests, and sand dunes from commercial development. Southern and northern access points lead visitors to the Fire Island Lighthouse and Smith Point Visitor Center respectively.

When I think of New York, I generally think of a bustling city with lots of activity and excitement. I would never think that just outside of Long Island I could find a beautiful, natural retreat. But that’s exactly what Fireside Island National Seashore offers, a retreat back to nature to regroup and reflect. In addition to the seashore and boardwalk, we enjoyed the Light Station, Lighthouse Tower, museum and the gift shop. There are two buildings to explore, the Light Station and the Lighthouse Tower. The building that houses the Lighthouse Tower is also where you’ll find the the museum, restrooms and gift shop. (There is a cost to access the Tower, so please check the “Notable Mention” section of this post to see which discounts might apply to you and/or your group.)The beachfront is gorgeous and so pristine. It was a welcomed surprise to see all the different shells and birds. We also enjoyed the boardwalk which allowed us to take in the scenery without disturbing the natural habitat. All in all, this area was a great unexpected find, and we certainly hope to return!Notable Mentions:The Lighthouse Tower offers the following discounts: Active military are free! Veterans and Seniors receive a reduced ratePlease Note: The tower is closed right now and will likely reopen in August 2023.

For a nice relaxing nature walk with the possibility to see some of the wildlife. It's an excellent take in some fresh air and explore the island.

Christian M — Google review

Absolutely beautiful and remote beach location. Most of the outdoor activities I've done here have involved wilderness camping or just spending the days here in peace and solitude. If you walk the seashore long enough, you'll get that vibe and it's a very memorable experience. Worth taking the ferry over to just to spend time the day or planning a longer trip in advance. Sunsets and sunrises by the beach here are amazing, always very lucky to see those views whenever I come.

Manny L — Google review

Visited the town of Ocean Beach on Fire Island via FI Ferry. Great community. Great beach!

Rich S — Google review

Beautiful & remote location. Easy to get to private dock by boat. Davis Point 1 mile away. Water taxi 1/2 a mile away. Recommend sticking up on rations. Pack light, living in bathing suits & sunblock is the norm, sturdy sandals a must, cool at night & hot & humid during day.

A gorgeous gate away from NYC, cute island where there's no car or traffic.. refreshing.. clean beach and nice biking path.. just remember that you cant bring food to the beach so hit it with full stomach

This is one of my favorite places ever... The 4x4 Beach is awesome pet friendly beautiful and for the most part quiet and private. It's been one of my favorite places to go since I'm 16 years old the regular Beach is really nice too and certain nights there are bands that play and everybody looks like they're having a good old time not really my cup of tea but looks like a good time . You can also camp in RVs or tents beautiful views can't you can't beat and tons of waterfront fun. Amazing sunrise and sunsets 💜💜💜

Renee D — Google review

Virtually untouched beaches, I went on a windy day in May and there was nobody. I even saw foxes on the sand dunes. The South Shore of Long Island has miles and miles of pristine sand, I think these beaches are among the best in the US.

Rolf S — Google review

There is a lot to love about this stretch of beach along the south shore of Long Island. Since most of the towns are seasonal there is not a lot of retail, some towns will even just have one shop that doubles as a grocery store/ sandwich shop. Each town will also be served by a local ferry from a town on the mainland. There are “water taxis” which will take you from town to town but these services are catch-as-catch-can.The island has some of the most exquisite beaches on the east coast. Deep soft white sand and tall grassy dunes make many sections feel truly wild. Thanks to conversation efforts the coast is again teeming with wildlife including dolphin, whales, sharks, rays and a host of other fish. The Great South Bay sits on the north shore of Fire Island and is what separates it from the mainland. This body of water has also experienced a renaissance as the tides now cleans the water creating expansive clam beds.If you can find an opportunity to spend time on the beaches here you will be thrilled.

Scott L — Google review

Not the easiest beach to get to, as you need to coordinate a ferry and then walk through a very unique little "village". But the beach is wide and goes on for miles, with nice water and beautiful sand for a beach so far north. There are also some decent restaurants and shops in town. Will be back next summer for sure!

Nature & Parks

Avalon Nature Preserve is a natural conservation area that was established in 1997 by The Paul Simons Foundation. It comprises of 216 acres of land, encompassing fields, forests, and wetlands. In 2001, 140 acres of the preserve became available for public access. Within the park are five diverse habitats that support abundant native flora and fauna species.

Avalon Park is a great spot for an easy hike/walk in the woods you can do anything in the park.🙃👅😋I was thoroughly impressed that there's a great (and free!) park like this hidden on Long Island. The website directed us to park our car on the street, and we luckily found a spot right away. The boardwalk entrance is currently closed for construction so we just followed a line of people walking towards Rhododendron Drive, and eventually found the entrance to the red trail. This did involve a bit of walking on a trafficked road, so just be careful and look out for cars. The section that we walked around was more forest than park. We mostly stayed on the yellow trail, which was doable for my parents who are not the most exercise-inclined people. There were some gentle slopes and stairs here and there, but overall easy enough for me to walk in sandals (which I definitely do not recommend - my feet kicked up a ton of dirt). It was surprisingly quite secluded for most of our hour-long walk, although many of the people we did see were not wearing masks. I'd love to come back here once the boardwalk construction is done, and in the fall for the foliage.

Great park for a hike or a stroll. Way more to this place than meets the eye. We were very pleasantly surprised with all there was to see! Definitely drop by if you are in the area.

A beautiful, spacious nature preserve with a old water mill that you can tour. Buying a pound of duck feed and sitting by the pond while feeding all the geese and ducks is by far my favourite thing to do. Many people bring their dogs and there's lots of trails with different sights to see. Definitely a good idea for a relaxing Sunday stroll.

Avalon Nature Preserve is an absolute treasure for nature enthusiasts! This five-star gem offers an immersive experience in a truly untouched wilderness. The variety of ecosystems within the preserve is astounding – from vibrant wetlands to dense forests – creating a haven for countless species of flora and fauna. The well-maintained trails allow you to explore this natural wonderland while being respectful of the environment. The informative signage along the way enhances the educational aspect of the visit, making it a perfect spot for families and curious minds alike. The peaceful atmosphere and the opportunity to reconnect with nature make Avalon Nature Preserve a must-visit destination. It’s a place where you can unwind, learn, and appreciate the beauty of our planet.

Beautiful park. When my "baby dog" was alive he LOVED this place, you never saw a dog more excited to take a stroll through the woods as this little guy was. The sights and sounds area tranquil. It's a quiet park even on the weekends. Most people stay by the duck pond feeding the ducks so the trails are very quiet. The park is large enough to find a quiet space to picnic or to just stroll on your own. Keep in mind there are NO public bathrooms here.

A cute little park in the Stony Brook with boardwalk, ponds interesting sculptures and a well marked trails. The park has two parts – a smaller section near the Stony brook down town is essentially a regular garden with paved trails, flower beds, sculptures, cascades and ponds. Very pretty and children-friendly, but, alas was very overcrowded on Saturday. The second section is bigger, with well-marked, dirt-packed trails that goes through meadows and old very open forest. Easy walk and less crowded. The park is pet-friendly. We have seen many people with dogs

Wonderful experience. We have drove by a couple of times and wasn't sure why there were so many people there at what I assumed was just a pond, but after our trip to the LI Museum we stopped by and glad we did. The preserve was beautiful and we hiked the trails and took in all the beauty and wildlife. We met a ranger there who took the time to explain the history and acreage of the preserve and gave us the tip of the secondary parking lot which we'll be sure to utilize next time to avoid the parking issues at front when it's crowded. There was also a local musician who played and sang while we enjoyed our stroll and watched the geese and ducks. Will definitely by coming back more often.

Avalon Park & Preserve is magical! I am visiting the area for 9/11, so stress levels are high. This was the perfect place to go in Stony Brook, New York to rejuvenate and be at one with nature. The thoughtfulness and design of the preserve made me feel so peaceful and happy.Parking is easy and free, and entrance is also no charge, so it is accessible to everyone. The trails are well marked and maintained. There is signage warning of ticks, and we stayed on the main trails where we enjoyed almost 4 miles of hiking including a little extra going to the farm stand at Birdsfoot Farm that is owned by Avalon. The place feels safe as there are cameras and nowhere is so remote that you are completely on your own. There was at least one water fountain there, and it included a bowl for pets. We saw several sweet dogs along the trail, as well as kind humans including some friendly park people who do such a beautiful job making sure the park is safe and well-maintained. It was not at all crowded, and the park is spacious. We also saw a beautiful young deer who seemed to know that we meant no harm, so she just stood there and looked at us as we looked at her. It was a very special moment! Some of my favorite elements of the park were the Cartas al Cielo sphere and the Labyrinth. At the Cartas al Cielo, there are postcards where you can write something to those who have passed. The sign says, "Visitors are encouraged to send messages beyond our earthly realm, mailing them through this poetic vessel." At the Labyrinth, there is a beautiful tribute to Paul Simons, dedicating the park and preserve to his memory, and a spectacular sculpture by Jod Laurie.Every part of the preserve was wonderful. There is a duck pond and a frog pond near the entrance, a hilltop meadow at the top, and lots of cool things in between. There are no restrooms at the preserve, no picnic areas, and no trash cans. Everything is carry in and carry out. Their motto is Protect, Restore, Inspire...and that is absolutely perfect! I highly recommend this lovely sanctuary.

Great place it is really a nice nature walk do as much or as little as you would like. Be careful for the ticks in the spring I had been bitten by 2 because I forgot to wear repellant. We went in the winter as well and that was really a fun time. Great areas for pictures as well.

We had a wonderful time walking through Avalon Nature Preserve! We took some nice pictures and saw lots of wildlife. We brought some food and drinks in with us but also brought our own garbage bag to bring our garbage out with us. They do not have garbages there to try and keep the area clean of garbage piling up. They don't encourage food so if you bring anything in please take it with you to keep it clean for others. It's such a beautiful place and we look forward to visiting again! 💗

Excellent place to visit. No entry fee and lots of parking space by the road. Nice lake with a very clean shore where you can sit back and watch the swimming birds. The track runs just by the lake - very easy walk upwards. Stop by the frog pond and enjoy the calm. One short walk from there leads to the Prometheus sculpture. Follow any of the trails from there and enjoy nature as long as wish. I’ll go back many times.

Subrata P — Google review

Beautiful park with lots of trails. Well maintained grounds. The park is dog on a leash friendly. Plenty of street parking or you can park at the mall just down the road from it. There are no restrooms. My dog and I can't wait to go back!

Museum & 6-acre railyard with historic trains, rail equipment & models plus train & turntable rides.

A gem of a place, worth the 2 hour drive to see. Well priced and you can easily spend a couple hours there. Train ride included a ride on the turn table which was great fun. No cafe on site but think you get a discount for across the road with admission looking at the back of the receipt. Train rides are 3 dollars a head so very well priced and staff are fantastic. There's also a bunch of brio for kids to play with and loads of model trains on display

James J — Google review

I love their vintage trains. They take you on a tour and answer all your questions. Everyone is a volunteer there and so nice. They worked so hard to make everything look historically accurate and it really does

Melissa S — Google review

Entrance is reasonably priced and the highlight is the outside display. Everyone will enjoy it, but kids that love trains will be in heaven.

Paul C — Google review

Great place to visit as a family or train enthusiast. The people that work there have a passion for things on the rails. Take the tour of the train yard. It includes a ride inside an older train and some really cool facts.

Manny B — Google review

Some displays and lots of old cars (only a select number were available for viewing). Although it looked interesting I did not go on their train ride.

Henry K — Google review

Had a fantastic time at the Danbury Railway Museum! There's a wealth of information about trains, perfect for enthusiasts and curious visitors alike. The highlight was definitely the train ride, which was enjoyable and offered great views. Highly recommended for a fun and educational experience.

Vineetha P — Google review

Great place to learn about the rail history and the only functional turn table in the near vicinity.Must visit as its been recently renovated

Siddhartha K — Google review

Had such a great time at this place I recommend it.

Max — Google review

Great price for a fun experience. We had the privilege of going on the ride with the guided tour. Excellent service and a wonderful museum to visit with the family. Very accessible and the gift shop had a wide variety of items for everyone's budget.

Bryan T — Google review

My train obsessed 5 year old son absolutely loved this! The museum itself was a bit boring, but it comes with the territory. The train ride was his favorite part! Just wish it lasted a bit longer. He loved being able to walk the train yard and hop on some of the restored trains. The giftshop seemed dated, but Thomas was there so that was what caught my son's eye!

Stasia T — Google review

So many more trains than we expected! We had a great time and a nice 30 min train ride with very informative and friendly staff.

Kelly L — Google review

We are definitely fortunate to have such an amazing museum filled with historical railway equipment. The staff is very passionate and very knowledgeable we were just there with my two kids and cousins for the pumpkin patch Express.I highly recommend if you have a loved one or a child who enjoys trains to hop on down to the Danbury railway museum and have an excellent experience.

Derek S — Google review

Worth the hour and a half drive. Made it just in time for the “local yard ride” which is a must if you ask me, which takes you to the far end of the yard and back on a classic train of the museums choosing. That also includes a ride on the historic turntable. Regardless there is plenty to walk around and see. I thought it was very cool and had a great time

Eric5ohhh — Google review

Best $10 I've spent in a long time. The museum is chock full of interesting memorabilia. The railyard holds some fascinating surprises. The train ride is short on distance but long on new experiences. And the folks working there know a thing or twelve about their subjects. A real gem.

YetAnotherHobby — Google review

Cool museum inside but got upsale a train ticket that was 10 $ each and it was a 30 min train ride that went back and forth on the same track, nothing really exciting about it and the guide was talking so much he even said he should shut up himself. Kinda a weird vibe here but besides the train the museum inside is cool and kid friendly, some hands on stuff too

Kayla F — Google review

This was the cutest place ever. The tickets were very inexpensive and we got 2 free pumpkins, yummy apple cider, apple cider cookies or pumpkin spice. The staff was extremely friendly and very knowledgeable. I think I loved that they all just loved trains like little kids. My son is obsessed with trains and loved every moment of it. Their gift shop is not very big but has some great items all prices range. Definitely would go back.

Jennifer L — Google review

This is a great place. Tons of cool railroad memorabilia and exhibits. The train yard has lots of cars, some of which you can climb aboard after a brief train ride around the lot. Great gift shop too.

Sunken Forest, located on Fire Island, NY, is a serene and tranquil nature haven for outdoor enthusiasts. The 1.6-mile-long elevated boardwalk takes visitors through a mature canopy of trees behind the dunes, offering a peaceful escape from the crowds that flock to other Long Island hiking spots. The well-maintained wooden pathways provide an opportunity to admire the lush greenery and towering trees while enjoying views of the Bayside and ocean.

Our family had an unforgettable day strolling through the Sunken Forest on Fire Island, NY. With a delicious lunch packed, we embarked on our adventure, taking in the breathtaking sights and sounds of this natural wonder. Beautiful place and interesting ecosystem to explore for nature lovers! It’s a short walk but you must do the free tour with Park Ranger Dave at the visitor’s center to really get the full experience. Loved his perspective and information. Definitely bring bug spray 😬

Angela W — Google review

Such a lovely tranquil spot. There are places to sit down in the middle of the walk and signs that tell you a little about the area. You are able to walk through the forest to the beach making it an ideal place to bring a family. It’s also wheelchair accessible!

Harvey H — Google review

If you come out to Fire Island you really need to make a day trip to the sunken forest (just do it). It’s one of only two marine forests in the country (the other is Sandy Hook NJ). The well-maintained and beautiful meandering wooden pathways allow you to see all of the beautiful plants and sea peaks of the Bayside as well as the ocean and the dunes. Don’t go off the path as there are notices about poison ivy as well as ticks. It’s recommended to wear bug lotion when you visit so you don’t get bitten. We usually leave the sunken forest and visit Cherry Grove for drinks and food in town. Coming here on an overcast day is probably easier as there are sections that are out in the open and will be very hot.Make sure to bring your garbage with you and leave no trace behind while enjoying this national park treasure.

Dreamy roundwalk but be aware of very- very- thirsty mosquitoes...

Agnes B — Google review

Over a mile of wooden planked trails. Shaded and easy to manage, took Sayville ferry over.. relaxing out door activity with the family..

Rich G — Google review

The entire trail is on broad walk. Stroller and kids friendly easy to walk trail. The length is about 1.5 miles loop. Lots of different types of plants. The map is comprehensive and it explains every single numbered spot. The beach area has great view. We take a ferry from Sayville to get there. The only problem is that this forest has lots of ticks during this time of the year and it has lots of poisoned ivy. If you stay on the boardwalk and not touch the plants, you should be fine.

Sherwood Island State Park, spanning 235 acres along the coast, offers a variety of outdoor activities for all ages. From swimming and fishing to picnicking and bird-watching, visitors can enjoy the natural beauty of this expansive park. With two beaches, picnic areas, a preserved salt marsh environment, and a Nature Center, there's something for everyone to explore. Additionally, the park features a poignant 9/11 memorial that pays tribute to those who lost their lives on that tragic day.

We love it here! It is so peaceful and very relaxing! Tons of parking. You have to wear swim shoes because in some areas in the water there are rocks as well as little se shells on parts of the beach near the water.

Donna D — Google review

Nice park with two beaches, pavilion with bathrooms and bottle filling stations, 9-11 memorial, picnic/grilling areas, and areas for fishing. Great for kids/families with gentle waves in a sound beach. Beach is a little rough on bare feet with lots of shells.

Colleen A — Google review

This is a really wonderful place! It's free to get in with CT plates and there is plenty of parking. There are a few different beaches, as well as picnicking areas. The beaches are clean and very pleasant. There are restrooms with outdoor showers, but no drinking fountains, though the bathroom sinks do not say non-potable so I just filled up my bottle there. Since it's such a large place, people are very spaced out on the beach, which was really nice! Love this place and will keep coming back :)

Sara J — Google review

Good place to spend time with family and friends. Great picnic area and lot of parking options. Bathrooms are clean and well maintained.

Parthiban N — Google review

Although it was pretty cold and windy when we went, I really enjoyed my visit to Sherwood Island State Park. The views were great and it was a nice and low-key walk without a lot of people around. A nice quiet walk is always a plus.

A great state park in Norwalk, Connecticut. Non CT cars have an entry fee of $21, can be paid at the entry point of the park by cash or card. CT Plates are free. Picnic area & the beach is on the east side. A lot of parking lots. Carry your sunscreen & umbrella as the sand is hot in the afternoon. There’s club house & designated parking area for the members.don’t forget to visit the 9/11 memorial. No ALCOHOL, NO SMOKING & NO PETS. There’s no visitor center, souvenir shop or food store inside. Response are clean & wheelchairs accessible.

Such a well-kept premises! The 9/11 Memorial Garden almost seems to prompt a reflective response. The day that I went, the beach was empty because it was not yet open season for beach-goers, but it was serene beyond words. It’s always a pleasant experience when I go to Sherwood Island State Park!

Tee M — Google review

If you live in NY but want to bring your family to a nice beach without the fighting, cursing and littering associated with (some) of today's youths then its more than worth the hour drive to come to Sherwood Island Beach in Westport CT. Bought the wife and daughter up here on a Tuesday (come during the week to avoid the usual rush on weekends) nice peaceful crowd and ample space. We did a little BBQ for lunch , packed it back up and headed for the beach which is literally across the road from the grills. $15 dollars for out of town residents, but they take cash, debit or credit. Ample parking available and cannot forget the Nature Center for the enthusiasts. This Park is very clean, has Rangers patrolling the parking lot routinely, and offers the most peaceful atmosphere to could ask for in the summer. Vending machines, showers, and restrooms located in the same house. People here are very friendly and like to wave, so wave back and enjoy. The beach is very clean however be sure to bring water shoes for the little ones as the shells can be sharp on the sand. This is one of the best beaches around and for all that it has to offer you'll won't mind sitting in traffic.

Jariel F — Google review

Very nice beach but def wear shoes lots of shells . I dont think is very good for swimming but you make your own judgement.

Hilda W — Google review

I enjoyed the Park. It was peaceful and scenic during this time of the year. There were nice views of Long Island Sound from the Park trails.

Raymond E — Google review

A few years back I did not like swimming here because the Big Dung Bird poop covered the entire lawn space and made it difficult to walk from the parking lot to the water! Yesterday my friend and I loved every minute of our visit! We found hundreds of the most beautiful sea shells - bright orange, yellow, green and white! We washed them and have them temporarily stored until we buy a tererium. So nice and sunny day at the beach. And the memorial for 9/11 is beautiful- I lost 2 college team mates that day. Thank you.

Ernie T — Google review

7.1.23 Our 1st time here. Free parking for CT residents. We parked on the West beach area and walked to the Pavillion and East Beach to scope it all out. There are many public restrooms and changing areas which were very clean and well ventilated. Many picnic areas for folks to sit in the shade, have a cook out, etc. The beach sand itself was a bit rocky so I suggest beach shoes. I thought the water was gross so I didn't go in but my bf said it was also a bit rocky where he went swimming. The beach itself was wonderful and quiet. We did enjoy a beautiful sunny day there.

Margaret H — Google review

Even though the wind was cold the day I visited, the sound of the waves and cries of the gulls were so relaxing. Beautiful natural beach.

Esther O — Google review

Pretty cool place! And free for ct residences as long as you have a ct plate! Hate how you get kicked out by security 30 minutes before sunset while others are still having a BBQ picnic. But the place is beautiful. But honestly. Instead of kicking out people who are walking about, taking photos, start asking the people who are having picnics still cooking and partying listening to music. The views are spectacular though! Lots to see and walk! But enjoy it before sunset because the security here will push hard to make you leave. Threatening to give us tickets if they don't leave in ten minutes. Sir.... Relax. I could be outta here in five minutes. Why are you asking me three times to leave as I continue to take photos of my friends, as we are moving to the car? Worry about the families who are still partying! 😂. Oh the rc airplane flight area is awesome! Watching people fly is pretty cool! Don't go here if you want to enjoy a sunset. They'll kick you out 30 minutes before. And don't listen to Google. They say park closes at 830 but they started kicking everyone out by 7. Dumb.

Kevin W — Google review

Beautiful, Sunny but windy. Only 1 or 2 trash cans, yet no litter. A few porta pottys. Nice place picture perfect

Amazing non-profit theater. Extremely cozy and unique. Although the plays are typically off Broadway and or "small" calibar shows, the production is top knotch and Broadway quality.

Outstanding local theater. A Sherlock Carol was new creative and excellent production. Every aspect was impressive. The play itself was a clever combination of a Christmas Carol imagined later with Tiny Tim all grown intertwined with a Sherlock Holmes mystery. While being true to both it creates a new and entertaining play. Brought to life with outstanding professional acting and impressive staging another triumph.

The park's golf courses designed by Alfred Tull provide a unique experience for golfers of all levels.

I visited the park on April, the weather was relatively "cold", but had an amazing time in that place with their 3/4 miles deck were you can walk and make exercise or just to chill out, love the nature and a couple of dears spoted while I was walking by, also the white sand looks gorgeous.

Plenty of parking. Entry fee is $10 per car. There is a little bit of a walk from the parking lot to the beach, but it’s not too much of a hassle. As you make your way to the beach you’ll go past families with shade tents, grills, and music. A welcoming environment. Everything is kept clean, and the people are great. I visited this weekend with a group of friends, and we ended up making friends with another group, it was a swell time. I think this is one of the best beaches I’ve been to.

What a lovely place! My family and I used to come here when I was a kid, of course I don't remember. But the beach and grounds are stunning. The water was just right, a bit of discomfort getting from sand into water due to the shells and some rocks but once you get past a certain point it's all nice and smooth. Will be back!

Raquel G — Google review

Long Island's parks are beautiful, and Sunken Meadow is a great example of this. They have a nature preservation center that works hard to save wildlife and educate the public. The boardwalk is a great place to take a nice long stroll. The beach itself is well maintained for the most park, but be cautious of the water as there are a lot of fishermen, and therefore a lot of hooks/line. Also, because it is the north shore, the sand is much rockier than the south shore, so if you're visiting Long Island for the first time and want a true "beach day" definitely hit the south shore. But for great views of nature, peace and quiet, and fresh air, head to the north shore at Sunken Meadow.

Secret gem of Long Island. Picnicking, swimming, nature. Hiking is mostly uneven sand. There is a "dogs allowed " section, and those dogs looked very happy! Playground in the distance full of happy kids. Definitely going again!

Very nice trails. Hilly in parts of it. Beautiful views of the LI Sound and the beginning/end(?) Of Nissequogue River. I'm not sure about that. If you don't want to do trails there's a nice boardwalk along the beach amounting to a nice two mile walk with plenty of benches to sit if necessary

K — Google review

Beautiful views of the north shore (Long Island Sound) towards CT. Water is very calm and great to swim in, especially for kids. Enjoy the tiny fishes swimming too. Small shells and pebbles can be a little rough to walk on near the water, but beach/water shoes may help with that. Showers and bathrooms are basic and functional to use, but are somewhat outdated. Boardwalk is great to have a walk or to just relax and enjoy the view. Ample parking available. $10 fee (per vehicle) for parking, but still worth it. Free parking after certain hours. Also, free parking for NY state residents 62 or older (Monday - Friday, except holidays) with a valid NY ID/driver's license (NYS Golden Park Program). Empire Pass is also worth it if you plan to visit this and other NYS parks regularly.

G B — Google review

This park is really great. Everything the other reviews said are pretty much on point. The only thing people should be aware of is their Dog Policies. We went because Google said they allowed Dogs. When we got there, there were signs EVERYWHERE that specifically stated No dogs allowed. We checked the website and spoke to the attendant at the toll, and dogs are allowed, but ONLY ON THE TRAILS. They are not allowed in the fields, parks, beaches, or boardwalks. We went early, like 1:30/2pm on a Wed. Nobody had an issue with our dog, though. It was very quiet, and we mainly stuck to the trails and then just walked on the roads by the fields/bbq/parking areas. Park officials didn't bother us.

It was a great day for a Motorcycle ride, today was was awesome, weather.it's been awhile since I visited Sunken Meadow Park. The beach was very clean.

Easy drive from Nassau, plenty of parking and doesn't get crowded like Jones Beach. Sometimes big families come and try to take up a lot of space and can get pretty loud (especially with music) but there is plenty of places to move if needed. Water is calm but somewhat seaweed filled as it is the bay area. A food place is open on the boardwalk.

Love this place easy access and free if you’re golfing. Course’s are nice and carts always available. Pro shop for supplies and concessions stands for food and they have the staff to assist you with your clubs tipping allowed and recommended. Driving range and putting green to warm up.

Lots of birds and shells to see. It's a good place to have an evening walk or perhaps a morning run... So many dead crabs though

Always excited when the good weather approaches because this is the first place I like to visit! The boardwalk is so nice and I get the best view of the beach while I exercise. From April until end of may it’s not so busy which is great, on the weekends it gets crazy! No dogs allowed, during the summer they have a cute lunch spot to grab a few bites to go

Nature & Parks

Compo Beach in Westport, Connecticut is a popular day-use park and beach destination. Spanning 29 acres, it offers a range of amenities including a marina, picnic shelter, volleyball courts, basketball courts, pickleball courts, skate park, baseball diamond and children's playground. The soft sandy beach along the Long Island Sound is perfect for sunbathing and swimming. Lifeguards are on duty during the summer months while off-season activities include dog-friendly areas and various sports facilities.

Great for dogs over the winter. Rocks, water, sand, easy parking and other dogs to play with. Don't know what it's like April-november, but dogs are not welcome then, so I bet it's a fun and easy beach to hang out at

Amazing experience seen the sunrise 🌅

I grew up there as a child. The beach is always fantastic and the life guards are always on the alert. Feel free to buy some food. It's always made fresh.

A nice beach during the off and summer season, has a great playground for kids to play on and a overall very well managed area in terms of cleanliness and maintenance. There is also bathrooms, a skatepark, basketball and volleyball courts as well as a small dining area which serves a variety of meals. If you’re a fisherman or go shellfishing this spot is great for Porgy (Scub), Stripers and Quahogs.

I have been to Compo many times. I the winter I bring my dog for walks on the sand. In the summer and Fall I come in the evening for sunsets with food and beverages on the sand. Very enjoyable and very relaxing.

Great little beach with food & clean bathrooms. But be aware from May 1 to October 1, parking at Campo Beach is ONLY for Westport residents. Your parking ticket will call cost you $150. There is NO street parking, you’ll need to drive further to a public beach or pay the hefty fine. Luckily, there’s 80° days in early October. So come enjoy Campo Beach then.

Beautiful clean beach! The water was surprisingly more clear then I expected. Lots of benches and picnic tables. Plenty of parking and they recently added and additional bathroom area. The sand is full of sea shells so I suggest wearing water shoes.

Excellent beach, clean water, big playground, many tables for parties, some are under the roof. Bathrooms are clean. There is a chair and umbrella rental. Lockers. Restaurant. Bay watch and first aid. Parking is quite expensive, it's 65,- on the weekend, but you don't have to pay for the entrance. Another minus that you are not allowed to go out from parking and come back later. There is also a place for skateboarding. It's worth coming here from NY state..

Nice off-season beach. I imagine in summer it gets a bit crazy here and there are prohibitive fees. Nice beach though, very clean, ample parking, large playground, pickle ball courts, skateboard park and lots of well-maintained porta potties. Bring your own provisions, as there is nothing to be had really close by, at least the one place there is was closed when I got there.

Gorgeous beach (for CT), not huge but they control capacity well. Pricey to park for the day, but if you're dropped off you're fine. Very kid friendly, with a playground right on the sand.

Nice beach with a lot of facilities, they have restrooms, water fountains, a big playground, volleyball courts, a store with lots of snacks and fast food.Another great thing about it is that they have a lot of accessibility with special chairs and paths. There are also some picnic tables. You can get a Westport recreation parks sticker or pay for a daily visit.

Nice Beach But the place is not all welcoming. Wanted to go to Beach not a resident. The first two people at the entrance we met were very nice and directed us to a second person that was at the entrance to the beach. He was an older(white) man he questioned us about coming here and just was not nice. Felt like he was discouraging us because we were people of color. It's 2023 Gee!

J Z — Google review

Nice beach but weekends if you get there late like 12 u have to pay 75 dollars n that's crazy i got there w my friend early n free if you get there early

Eva P — Google review

Prepare to meet a lot of dogs and dog owners after October 🤙Parking for non Westport residents is ridiculously expensive. Get there by bike if you can and enjoy a full car-free experience.
